DLC concerns
Like many others world was my introduction to the series. Since then ive gone back and played gen ultimate and 4U, which has only deepened my appreciation for the franchise. However, one thing that has always rubbed me the wrong way is the ridiculous amount of dlc nonsense that came with world and rise.

Its safe to assume that wilds will take this even further, pushing the envelope in ways that just leave a sour taste in my mouth. I love this series but a 70$ game with paid expansions having these greedy dlc practices make it hard to want to support the game. Seeing a franchise I care about go down this route is just disappointing

Cosmetic DLC? That worries you? With the amount of stuff you get for free in events and additions to the game, a handler cosmetic bothers you? O.o

Both rise and world had two expansions, Iceborne and Sunbreak and both of those expansions were about the same size as the main game.

There will be at least 200+ MTX as time goes on that's what they did to RISE & World.

Almost certainly.

World has something like $541 of DLC on the Steam store. Wilds will undoubtedly be horrendous.

You are missing the point. Its not about whether the dlc is cosmetic or optional, its about the principle of a full priced game with a paid expansion model still trying to nickel and dime players with mtx nonsense. When you defend it by saying “You get free event content” or “It’s just a handler skin” you are completely sidestepping the fact that this kind of monetization shouldnt exist in a game like this to begin with

None of the cosmetic dlc is worth using. Stuff you get in game is 10 times better always. I only bought baloon paolumu pendant in iceborne, which was lower than 1$ i think. Rest was garbage.

Why it shouldn't concern people? It is literally gatekeeping cosmetics behind an paywall.
He's right btw, it's sad that everything that could be just content in the game, how it was before, is just simplified by "you can just buy it".
It happened with Rise, but people forget things way too easily, or pretend to. The japanese community was kicking players for having the dlc weapons skins.

It doesn't matter if the dlc cosmetics are worse compared to in game cosmetics are, the game shouldn't lock players out of anything by asking more money when the game is already $70.

And since you guys are talking about handler skins, just don't forget that not a single handler skin is obtainable by playing the game.

say thanks to Bethesda and there horse armor.

But for real most of these dlcs in World/Rise are just useless/ugly but somehow they sell else Capcom wouldnt make them. So its actually in the gaming communities hand how much dlcs will be there/is worth to make.

Basicly the reason i just have the base version of the game because the cosmetics didnt look good enough for me

Monster Hunter sells cosmetics as DLC, while other games offer them directly in the ingame shop. In MH, you’ll receive many free collaboration items, emotes, and more. (If you play on PC, you can use mods to achieve things free) The only major DLC worth purchasing is the expansion, which provides a fair amount of new content. If you like certain cosmetics and want to support the franchise, feel free to buy them but don’t worry about missing out if you don’t get everything. I think its a fair system in this days. The more income the game generates, the more resources are invested back into creating new content.

Strange. I notice no cosmetic DLC.

talking about monster hunter...
they all had free DLC outfits

also, correct me if im wrong, but *most* of the DLC is stuff that wasn't on-disk for MHW.
it might be a little pricey, but someone had to be paid to make those models, effects and code. they are completely optional and i think are fair.

the other stuff is cringe and bad though.

But you do notice a season pass with multiple DLC's tied onto it, not sold with the main game. Funny how that works =o.
What arou you talking?
Iceborne was a milestone in gaming history and Sunbreak was just great as well as all the free contetn updates
