Is editing your characters appearance locked behind paywall in this one too?
I really dislike monster hunter rise for selling you character edits as microtransaction, like really, really, really hate it.

Games are a place you come to escape from irl and go to another world and relax, and you should be allowed to do what you want with how you express yourself in that world as much as you want. Doesn't have a place in any game in my opinion even free games, let alone AAA paid games like rise and this.

So, does anyone know?

It'll still have tickets yes, which likely they will sell for real money. I believe they said you can also get them in game somehow though.

If so I'll most defiantly be using a mod to get around that yet again.

For major edits like changing your face, yes. You need one of those character edit tickets. You can change minor things about your character for free, like changing your hairstyle.

I wouldn't expect anything else from Capcom.

I personally never cared. I create my character once, make sure I am happy with it then begin game and never alter him. Agreed charging for a change is annoying though. I would rather the option not be available at all in that case. Charging for that is pure greed.

There will be some mods for that

It was already in beta, there was "Hunter appearance change coupon and palico version, both were set to infinite for beta. So absolutelly they will sell those, probably will throw them every now and then as event rewards (probably also with expiration date so you can't save them) so the defenders got some ammo "but you can get them for free!"

Those mods will probably get you banned if you play online. If they work even because I have a feeling customization is saved on their server with this one.

You can modify your character and Palico ad infinitum during Beta, so you have a significant amount of time to get that look you're satisfied with. When the game is released, you'll keep what you made during Beta, maybe with one final free chance to make whatever niche change you want.

However, if you're one of those creatures who feel the need to have a brand new look every month... that's a you problem. Godspeed.

that's too costly for how little these things sold in the first place
i guarantee the devs themselves do not care, and did not implement anything like this

the customization is probably registered in some way on a server, but the tickets in rise were stored locally and easily increased via cheat engine. This is a new engine, so we don't really know, but the mods are fairly robust for REengine. The main mods Capcom took issue with were lewd model swaps, so it's a safe bet they'll be looking to crackdown on it. We don't really know how far that extends though. Even if you can't give yourself an infinite amount, you will be able to bypass it. People were also furious in Rise, and they handed out a bunch for free after some seething.

I had no idea Rise was on RE engine. That will undoubtedly make some things a lot easier. Ofc, on the CE forums, there's already talk of two different anti-cheat systems being in place, but no one will know their true scope until the full game comes out. Regarding lewd mods, idk if you missed it, but Crapcom through a major fit and had to apologize to Japanese media for "corrupting the youth," it was somewhat of a big scandal. The suits proclaimed they would wage a war on all modding. They even took control away from the younger son of the president who was doing all kinds of awesome stuff for PC, trying to remove various barriers. Needless to say, papa Capcom wasn't pleased. We haven't yet seen much consequences from this statement, but this will be their biggest IP release since the war started. Model swaps are going to be difficult to stop, but it's certainly possible they will have some kind of auto ban system in play or something.

i guarantee this was just performative, because it would be costly otherwise
