$70? No Thanks. Feel the same way? Check this out.
Disclaimer: If you had mommy or daddy buy you the game, or paid for one of the ridiculous price tags, or you think $70 is not a lot of money to spend, then... good.. for.. you! I'm happy for you. You keep doing you and keep spending your money the way you want. And you keep living life the way you want. Now go away. Thank you.

This is to my fellow brethren's that understand the true value of a dollar and didn't grow up with a silver spoon in their mouth. And actually have to work for a living and contribute to society, taxes, bills, etc. Or if you could afford the game but clearly don't want to encourage greed then this is for you!

All we gotta do is hold out for just 5 years and the game will be dirt cheap! Check it out![www.gamesradar.com]

See ya'll in 5 years!.

Edit: Let me make this clear for those that choose to put words in my mouth. Particularly the words that I am "complaining about the price.".

I am not complaining about the price. I really don't care how much they raise the price, it could cost $1,000 for all I care. I know for certain I wouldn't pay that much for a video game, even if I was filthy rich. And certainly I will never pay $50, $60, $70, or more for video game again. (Especially since the gaming industry is not willing to be more innovative and only make reboots/remakes or remasters of the same games we played decades ago in the '90s and so on) Not that I cannot afford it and not because I'm cheap but because I'm smart to say the least. And if you don't think that is smart then we'll... I have no words for you nor can I acknowledge you or reply to you for I'm under the obligation to comply with steams rules.

P.s. to the person that thinks video games have only raised whooping $10 more. It has actually raised $30 more unless you were born yesterday or weren't born in the '90's. And let's not forget the fact that in those times we had physical copies. And actually owned a physical thing. Unlike the illusion of a manifestations of ones and zeros of today. Which you really don't own anything and they've admittedly said so already.

>five years / $5

If one keeps an eye out, they'll be able to get the complete game (post-DLC / support) for <$30, and within two years. Case in point:
https://isthereanydeal.com/

Indeed, with how buggy new games invariably are nowadays -- the bugginess being directly proportional to the games' AAA sloppiness -- and how many players use mods etc., it's all but imperative for the smart shopper to wait, at least, six months post-launch; if not, as alluded to, 24+ months down the track; by which time the game is finished proper and there exists a nice suite of mods to tailor the experience for the players. Indeed, in the case of Mammal Harasser Mild (PEGI 3 to 6 years), anyone wanting any feedback from their play experience, will simply have to wait and pray that the expansion increases the game's challenge to, err... something -- a baked-in 12~18-month wait ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hot take:
"Pre-ordering" will go the way of the dodo within this decade, as games are becoming far too unreliable and content devoid at launch; or said buying option will offer so much more than without committing to said bet, that throwing down for a game at launch will become tantamount to buying a demo for full RRP... which it kind of is already. Hence, my money being on pre-ordering going the way of the dodo by 2030.

Got it from unused Loot Box money from CS:GO back in the day.
So technically I got it for free? and I also have more than enough to get Nightreign and 1 more AAA price.

It's a time vs money thing.

The game is 70$ (after taxes is was 100 CAD for me), is this good? No.

But the same time, the amount of money I make over the course of 5 years would buy me over 100+ copies of this game.

I will only live so long and so my time is worth more then money.

If your time is worth so little that you can afford to wait 5 years to play a game then awesome, for the rest of us I'd rather suffer the occasional overpriced pleasure then die miserable.

That said, sail the high seas every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ chance I get.

$70 isn't a lot to ask for MH, it will get constant updates and support for years to come. A quick trip to the grocery store on a short list runs me like $50
op just gave you disclaimer yet your here and the first one to do it. congrats

Yes but problem is that you spent lot of time on work you don't like to work, by all those work hours, to get this game, then it's depend on real life problem like your car broken down, or home issues you had to spend more money to take care of problem, if you do not had ability or not know how to overcome. Then it's question how long game would keep you fun and entertain at hours, lot of people gambit or risk it buy high price, then find they only play 40 hour or less, then money might not worth it, but if they play 1,000 hours, then money are worth it, but most people had no way to know that till 20 to 40 hours, and it's too late to refund if they don't want to play game beyond 40 hours yet after more than 2 hours gameplay, it's too late to refund to buy other type game and company already got money, and all customer spend time on work is already lost for try get good fun/entertain for 1,000 hours (that would be good deal for $70 even for poor people, but how many people did play that very same game for that hours? not many, and they are not getting good deal unless they are rich people who had million/billion in account that $70 is tiny thing but not to poor or low income people, $70 is lot of money to that people.

$60 in 2018 (The year MH: World was released on Steam), accounting for inflation, is about $75 today. In other words, Wilds is actually cheaper at launch than World was.
true story Games are cheaper now then they was back in 2006 at the £50 mark so min wage here was £4.70 an hour now its £12 I work 5 hours on Min wage I can buy MH wilds back in 2006 i would have had to work 10 and a half hours

@Humble

IMO judging if a game is worth the $ based on the hours of entertainment it gives you is probably the worse subjective stick to measure by.

Simply because you can have a mind blowing time with a really short game that was still 30$ vs a game you had an "ok" time with that was 1000 hours long.

Ultimately it's all incredibly subjective.

For me and this game? Well I wanted to play with my friends and I like monster hunter a lot.

Do I feel that it's ok for games to be 100$ CAD? Oh hell no, but Denovo is pretty annoying to crack and so it's ether buy the game overpriced or effectively not enjoy it at all.

At the moment I have less then 100 hours in it and I FEEL like I've gotten 100$'s worth of enjoyment by the time I've beaten it and got tired playing with friends.

Paying that 100 still sucks incredibly hard, but there is no real alternative other then waiting an unreasonably long time vs my earning power.

To be fair, there was time it's more cost to make like CD/DVD at that time now they don't worry about that, and had ability to share download from internet, no need worry about physical more or less, I guess, but price at that time when CD/DVD, do not change or price drop, I guess it's help keep price stay same for many year longer because no longer need to make CD/DVD. I guess I'm one of people who think price drop, but I realized that they just keep same price for many year because they cut down with CD/DVD or Physical, rather than just had price drop.
Whats the problem?
MH is like 150$ for about 300-500 hours of gameplay(i guess there will be dlc like it was icebourne for world)
Whats the price of cinema in your country? We have around 5$ there. Lets count one film like 2h, for 300 hours worth of 2h films you will pay 750$.
The SNES Final Fantasy III was released on April 27, 1990, with a price tag of $79.99 USD or $99 CAD. 35 years later, do you think that’s a lot? You can wait a year or two for a discount. No need to cry over a new game being so expensive. Gaming is a luxury form of entertainment—the hardware, the monitor. If you can’t afford it, just put it down. It’s just like walking into a jewelry shop, holding a diamond, and yelling that it's too pricey...

Well game is still kind of cheapest entertainment, do you know how much it's cost for real ownership of ship or aircraft, or real flying pilot? Or had beautiful lover/spouse? I guess it's cost million dollar at least, PC or console game is still cheapest entertainment even more than TV and Movies in long terms! Plus more safety than real life hobby like flying aircraft or something like that.

Not everyone buys things based on what we MIGHT get in the future. I bought this game for the price I paid for the content it released with.
Also if you know Monster Hunter at all then you know that all they'll release is monsters we've fought over and over again in previous games. Though if I remember correctly MH:World did give us a new one or two in the form on Kulve Taroth and Savi'jiva.
Even so, we aren't going to be getting much 'new' content.

My information warfare teacher once told me: Common sense is not common to common people.
So this thread should be seen as a PSA. Not much to debate anyway. Even if you're loaded with cash, you can't defend wasting. "I have so much of it, it doesn't matter!" yeah sure but you now, have less than before. Congratulations.
Edit: now whether you think it's a worthwhile investment, is another question that this thread isn't really about. OP just said that it'll be cheaper in 5 years.
