Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds

YOUR OPINION.
There is hundreds of threads about performance, DRM etc. THIS ISN'T ONE OF THEM.

What I want to know how people are liking the gameplay of MH Wilds.

I will give you some examples :

1. I joined the recommended lobby. Saw lots of hunters in the "camp" ( which immediately put me off as I thought I played some MMORPG ) rather than have small group in the city hub like in previous games. Despite that decided to run around and hunt some monsters.

2. First thing that struck me was the fact the food buff lasted only 30 min. Which isn't great, considering the food buffs lasted the whole hunt in previous games.

3. After some time I have encountered "sand snake" and decided to hunt it. After 15 minutes of gameplay, monster started to limp and run away to rest. At that moment some RANDOM GUY shows up and start attacking the monster I have HUNTED. WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL THIS TIME? It felt like Kill Steal. Quite frankly don't like that aspect of the game. Which is why most likely I will play solo or with friends only.

4. Changes to how I play lance / hammer are annoying and It makes me wonder... why changing something that wasn't broken? It will take some time to "re-learn" the weapons before they "click" again. Sadly aside from new "wound attack" and couple of other minor mechanics, my playstyle is now somewhat ruined. ( Unenjoyable but again it might change if I push through and re-learn the weapon combos etc. ).

5. I did not enjoy the fact that there can spawn many monsters which I will have to use dung pods to chase away. Fighting multiple Doshaguma's is not fun, especially because unlike Monster Hunter World where monsters could damage each other, MH Wilds they seem to be immune to friendly fire. Dung Pods are no longer optional but mandatory.

6. The map is open sure but.... I felt like I was just wandering aimlessly for no real reason. For what? gathering resources ? finding secrets ? Other Monster Hunter games had that too. I dunno If I like the change... it's still corridor / open area map design but... bigger? I actually enjoyed more city hub interactions, getting ready before hunt, goofing around in the lobby. Talking tactics and gear.... I'm having a hard time describing why I don't like this change but it is what it is.

7. Layered Armours. Gone are the days of showing your skill by acquiring rare monster materials or overcoming hard challenges.... Now everyone can just buy "fancy" armour from the shop. What's worse some of the cool hairstyles, sekiret armour or gestures are purposely taken out of the game to be sold as a DLC. If you see MH RIse DLC's, you will know what I mean.

Anyways that's all from me. Post your experience down below, I hope to listen to both positive and negatives.

I went from the MH Wilds beta back to Iceborne...

And Wilds is simply better in every metric.

I immediately felt the difference in the weapon changes, all of Worlds weapons felt more clunky and limited compared to their Wilds counterparts. (Which comically led to me carting a bunch)

The food buffs now remain with you when you cart, so they don't last as long but apparently you're not vomiting up your last meal every time you cart. This is an improvement IMO.

I LOVE the layered armor changes and cannot wait to craft every armor in the game for fashion hunting.

Frankly it seems I love the changes you dislike.

Food buffs now persist after quest completion/fail and carting. This is a net win.

If you are in a lobby with other people and start a quest, they can join you whenever even if no SoS flare.

Lance is getting a rework.

As for my opinions, Seikrets need to not get between the hunter and monster.

Monsters flee too much.

Clash attacks need tuned, I don't like sliding along the floor with my heavy bowgun for 15 meters when I perfect guard arkveld's chain slap. Its so goofy.

Interesting points and yes food buffs persists but 30 minutes means I have to go back to the camp after each hunt anyways! :D

Lance getting a rework is a good thing ! Not all hope is lost then.

Monster flee too much? They kinda do don't they... Didn't see it as much of a problem due to Seikret autorun... mhmmm... need more testing.

Clash attacks only occur with perfect block?

I like fashion hunting too but I guess you can't have both ! lol.

Food buffs last too short in my opinion so re-buffing after every hunt is necessary.

How is MH World more clunky than MH Wilds? Have you played Wilds first and then World? Is it because you have "focus" mode where you can aim your attacks? As far as I know the weapons still feel "sluggish" or animation commitment is still there so If anything both games are similar but the changes to "controls" is what makes it clunky for me ( in Wilds ).

Who needs seikrit auto run :P

I turned that off.

Monster fleeing is to be changed for launch. That was known since november. This beta does not represent changes

Clash attacks work with perfect blocking a certain attack.

I have a few hundred hours in Worldborne, it's just clunkier because of how much moer fluid the movements and attack flows are in Wilds, I feel the moveset changes really add flow to every weapon and the moveset changes I find allow you to take slightly more risks.

I think it's going to take everyone a little while to adapt from their current move rotation and adjust to new muscle memory, but going back it's SUCH an improvement to literally every weapon. (I'm a jack of all trades, I dabble in everything)

I only really used Focus mode for GreatSword and the extra Insect Glaive moveset, so that's not a huge gamechanger for me.

Additional: commenting on Monsters fleeing too much, that's a confirmed bug from the betas caused by the increased weather/seasonal changes. They upped the weather/season change speed so that people get to experience them, but the side effect of that is monsters changing location when the season changes......

monhun is monhun, if u like monhun then it is for u but performance is wilds this time also the price, and price for the rig able to play without framegen
framegen is not good for game that need precise timing like fighting game or need to press combo in tight time windows like monhun, it ruin the timing.
it also bad if performance is not enough
