Objectively Best Weapon

I know there probably isn't an objectively best weapon but if you were really forced to come to one choice on best overall weapon, what would it be?

I've played almost only Lance, and Sword and Shield. And I love them, but, I cant help but feel like, for my skill level, they are like some of the weakest options and in the lances cases, a tad boring when you basically have 2 attacks.

So i'm looking for a new weapon to dedicate myself to, I've avoided overly popular weapons like the long sword...

I'm leaning towards Great Sword, or light or heavy bow gun. Any thoughts?

I'm not going to lie. Hunting Horn in this game actually feels like one of the Objectively best weapons. It is either the strongest secondary or one of the best primary weapons. This time its Slugger effect is better than Hammer's, and with a person who actually knows what they are doing with the pools and song combinations, they can pump out even more damage too.

I think the meant the best weapon at end game, not the best beginner weapon or best support weapon.

lbg or hbg if you want to not play the most fun parts of the game and use the most busted speedrun weapons in like every title

Honestly, Great Sword is the "perfect" weapon for Monster Hunter. Especially in Wilds, GS was designed first, and the game balanced around it.

Switch axe and hunting horn! If you can commit to learning the ins and outs youll have a blast. Horn especially when playing with a squad, youll be the most popular kid in town. Plus the offset is so easy to set up while also being arguably the best offset in the game for giving i-frames, repositioning, and the option to rip it when youre ready

I think this view only accounts for solo playing and the consistency it provides. Long sword speedruns are impressive to watch but not reflective of how people actually play the game.


As a result, you rarely if ever run across high dps long sword users when playing with randoms. I don't know if that's a skill issue, or if not being able to always have aggro hurts long sword users that much. But regardless multiplayer is a key component of the game, and ranged weapons and their consistent dps despite a monster bouncing around 4 players are the king of that domain.


And I'm not even a ranged weapon user, purely charge blade. Good enough to get S rank with all weapons on all arena quests in Rise and World. But every person who has out-dps'd me in World and Rise were always using a ranged weapon. Every. Single. Time.

I soloed MR-KT with Lance, the lowest DPS weapon in Iceborne, while people while most people were claiming the hunt was practically impossible for their weapon.

I am still telling you that LS is the objectively best weapon. Even in Multiplayer, it still has the most tools at its disposal. Yes, some ranged weapons can out DPS it at end game, but they lack the tools it has, and they are snowballing weapons that don't do as well at the start of the game as they do at the end of the game.

I think the reality is, with all jokes aside, it's not possible to answer at the moment.

We don't know the meta of MH wilds yet, and we don't have access to all the potential special moves, or the new weapon balances. Each game has changed the meta and what is objectively best.

Which also then might boil down to skill of the player, my play style isn't suited to long sword In any MH, so it's hard to say objectively it's "the best" when other factors exist. We must wait really.


But also sword and board is the best of all time GOAT
