They like to release mainline then portable, and portable is where they like to try new things, like perhaps a new revamped underwater combat system. I would be surprised if we could have a mount that can swim and dive too in such a game.

I have no comments for/against rise. But World/Rise are the two highest selling Monster Hunter games because...they were the first 2 MH games to be released on PC.

rise only sold about 20% worse than world.

next in line is iceborne.

next monster hunter after that is portable 3rd / freedom 3.

how could rise signal the end of the series if it's the #2 game ever in the franchise?

It was even discussed internally (which was leaked during some interview) that the portable team will be scrapped if they underperform again.

The discussion started around the time when the Lead Designer behind Iceborne was put into Rise and instead decided to leave the company and join some small no-name one instead, because of how bad the conditions were. And then reignited by when Wilds was introduced and they just told everyone how much worse Rise did than Worlds, profit wise.

I believe switch 2 will be very strong in general, I remember checking out some leaks, we may get surprised when they reveal it.

I think they're making it fairly close to Series S so they can get more 3rd party games.

I am a big fan of MH but im not interested in playing it on a nintendo console. I have bought the OG Monster Hunter, freedom unite, world and wilds on launch day but have never played any of the others. I moved away from console because i dont like the things they are doing and the price keeps going up with multiple different tiers now so i am mostly just PC only these days.
