Next monster hunter game will be on the switch 2.
Mark my words.

They like to release mainline then portable, and portable is where they like to try new things, like perhaps a new revamped underwater combat system. I would be surprised if we could have a mount that can swim and dive too in such a game.

Honestly, I thought this was such a given I'm surprised people are commenting on it.

It will be coming toward the end of the Switch 2 era, in 3-4 years, but it will be on Switch 2, unless Sony releases some kind of "PSP2" as debated.

Meh, XX and Rise where outliars really.

They could do it, but they could also not do it.

Portable 3rd was a sequel to freedom, not a side from tri. There was no other game between MH tri and 4

I'd say world was the first real big shift in art direction, and wilds is going in the same way, while rise had more of the classic style with a bit more whimsy mixed in.
Mh2,dos, tri and 4 have similair artstyle to world. The main difference = no paintball and seamless zone transitions and obviously a more modern look to the game, but different artstyle not so much.

The tonal shift was more how nature focused it was, world was a living breathing world, dense plant life, monster just doing there own thing and not just waiting for the hunter, you could argue that thats how they always wanted it to be but i do not know.

It was either just not 'invented' yet for monster hunter or the nintendo products where just to weak powered.

PS4 world struggled to maintain 30 fps so let alone 3ds/switch would be far worse :P

If wilds can run on Series S, then a switch 2 can most certainly run wilds.

Capcom always chooses the hardware that sells best in japan, that's why tri was on the wii and not ps3 and they jumped ship from sony on portable going for 3ds instead of the vita. I think switch 2 will be hell of a competition for sony.

Well Switch2 will clearly outsell the PSP2 unless the PSP2 is somehow a huge leap forward in portable performance at a reasonable price.

Which.. let's face it, it ain't gonna be.

Next? Brother, Wilds can run on switch 2 for sure. They will most likely port the game there.

Brother, idk what you're on. But switch 2 will run similar to a ps4. (not bad btw just stating the facts) If for whatever reason it does make it to switch it would be through cloud gaming.

And what makes you think this game couldnt run on ps4? It boggles my mind how people can´t perceive how bad this one game looks.
So many delusional people out there.

It was even discussed internally (which was leaked during some interview) that the portable team will be scrapped if they underperform again.

The discussion started around the time when the Lead Designer behind Iceborne was put into Rise and instead decided to leave the company and join some small no-name one instead, because of how bad the conditions were. And then reignited by when Wilds was introduced and they just told everyone how much worse Rise did than Worlds, profit wise.

It got worse since then. The portable team gets restructured as we speak, if it was not done already. Portable MH future looks grim. If not already killed this cycle, it will be done next.

Leaks sugest the Switch 2 is as powerful as a PS4 PRO. If they somehow manage to port this game there it'll be like the Witcher 3 port for the Switch.

Well, yeah, next game will be on Switch 2. Thats kind of how the series has worked for a decade now.

I have no comments for/against rise. But World/Rise are the two highest selling Monster Hunter games because...they were the first 2 MH games to be released on PC.
