is there a trick to gogmazios ?
my friend and i are trying to farm it
we died a lot
did the story mission first try so easy
died a few times after that but managed to kill it 2 times so far

i dont get it exactly
sometimes we subdue its power super ultra fast so incredibly fast in phase 3
and most of the time we just cant seem to do it at all

is there anything specific to be doing aside from just attacking it with elemental dragon ?
Like i ASSUME its just MHW alatreon where any attack is an attack and theres no real trick

but i dont get how sometimes we manage it so unbelievably easy then we just cant do it no matter how hard

I Solo'd him now with Gog DB dragon with really good elemental buffs on it 2 EX ones
and i managed to knock him out with the pillar + downed him 2 times in phase 3
and did not manage to subdue his power one time even

Are you doing it just with you and you're friend duo? if so probably just need to get some more people in to do more damage. I've only failed the dpcs check once even after joining random people with flares so you probably just need 2 more players

The DPS check is actually very generous. You should reach it consistantly as long as you don't miss your dragon sligner ammo too much. I think the key thing here is that you're hunting a monster that is scaled for 8 players with only 6 (4 NPCs and you and your friend). You should always make sure that all 8 slots are filled. You don't necessarly need real players, the support hunters do a good enough job.

i havent edited any of the support hunter things
they always came along which is why its confusing why 2 quests in a row we completley destroyed him but then became unable to reach the dps check even once after without any changes
funny thing is in one of the times we did it my friend didnt even have a dragon weapon at the time and was just using a fire weapon all the time nad we did it still
now that they switch to dragon we are just failing and im very confused lol

No problem. then I could only suggest bringing more dragon element. Always try to knock it down with the boulders in area 3 during its "Gazeous" phase (essencially, when it flies).

Also, for the first nova, you can get to safety by climbing on top of the rocks, but you can only do that for the first nova, after which the rocks will be destroyed.
man what the hell
again i fought him solo
i do win cuz 4 carts and i cart 3 in phase 3 and have that insurance to save me so i brute force it

i just dont get why i cant do the subdue at all
in MHworld i for fun killed alatreon physical damage no elemental and took those carts kinda like whati m doing now lol , obviously not doable with other ppl

is DB with
element boost 2
element boost EX
element boost EX

good enough ? Or does it need to be at least 4 element boosts

my bow has the exact same
am i supposed ot save all those anti-wyvern shots until he starts flying ?

Nope just blast away, but do hold the fire to charge it up and do more damage.
Dunno if this helps, but the DPS check is the gaseous phase.
and now we consistently just demolished him and kept him at check very early way beforeh e did that final attack
idk it just does not feel consistent ? some missions we demolish him some we cannot at all stun his power

Those hunt you probably are sticking to him and attacking alot more.

If GOG is aggressive enough and you guys are running around instead of DPS I could see that where the DPS check failed.
If its on the ground, you want to attack it with your weapon to save the slinger shet for when its aerial. ♥♥♥ whatever you heard above. Make sure your keeping your eyes on the ground and the air at the same time (it sucks ik).

You want to save those to charge and snipe the Gog parts for more ammo and knockdown, but you can make do by just targetting the head or arms. Save mounting for 3rd area if you are having trouble with damage check ig.

If your having probs with staying alive 2nd phase, keep to the outer wing or its chest (big DPS loss) near the cliff. Just anticipate that everytime it's lifting its arm, theres going to be a hitbox and react accordingly. I recommend Evade skills for comfort, and Agitator and Gog bonus is good here.
it completely escaped me that i can shoot its slinger ammo off and i kept thinking it just falls as you do damage

and honestly nah we only ever cart in the dps thing, we both are pretty alright at the game.
i havent mounted it yet tho and havent been trying but good to know its possible
Don't use the environmental hazards in the final area until AFTER its first nova, if you pass the dps check then that's nice, but you can use the two ledges at the back of the arena to protect yourself from the first nova, so if you don't pass the dps check you have an escape (Familiarise yourself with them next time you enter the final arena so you know your escape route, there is one next to each environmental hazard). Saving the environmental hazards until after this when those ledges have been destroyed and you have no escape from the nova aside from passing the dps check ensures you have a period of time where Gog is grounded and unmoving so you can whale on him, and you get the extra chunk damage from the falling rubble.

Similarly, if you're able to build up mount before his second nova you can get another knock down and a bunch of damage from a mount. It takes a lot to mount him though so if you're not using a weapon that naturally is capable of doing mount damage it may be a waste of time trying to build it up (Eg. I use lance and build up mounts when charging at the monster when it moves too far away, jumping at the end to tag on some percentage to mounting. By the third phase of doing this anytime the monster moves too far away I always manage to get a mount in the third phase). You can also get that pesky mutated armament that never seems to break on his back by doing this too.

Actually, just going to quickly add that health doesnt scale with the amount of people you're playing with. So if you're only playing with one other person, its always worth bringing along two NPCS. I play alone for the most part and my picks are normally Alessa, Griffin, and Nightmist. As a duo, I would recommend Alessa and Nightmist as I've seen Griffin miss too many true charged slashes to feel comfortable putting my life in his hands lmao.
