is there an option in the settings to display fps or do i have to use like steam overlay to display fps

OVerlay.

Just keep in mind it might work not well with framegen

no game native option. but steam can display fps all the time or use msi afterburner -> rivertuner for detailed data.

dam i was hoping not to use steam overlay, it lags my game somtimes

There is an in-game FPS counter - huge yellow numbers.
But the several times I've activated it were entirely accidental. That's about 28 possible keys centered on WASD.

Knowing the key combo would have been great for shutting it off again.

Add: Found it, it's Alt + Shift + F

if you have a nvdia card and the nvdia app you can just prest alt+r and you get the nvdia overlay fps counter, its pretty accurate and you can have any information you want from just fps to temps, usage, framtime, etc

Just checked and it does not work. Are you sure its not GPU-Driver or 3rd party related on your end?
