Frenzy health tick??

Was having a bit of an unfortunate run with a tempered Gore, and after being pinned against a wall and blasted into a failed frenzy dps check, I noticed my health was ticking down. Wasn't poisoned or anything, and I definitely don't remember that being part of the frenzy fail mechanic, just you take more damage and don't naturally regen, only thing I could think of was the super recovery working backwards with it?? Anyone else experience anything like this or have an answer?? Watching it happen had me hella confused

Getting frenzied also causes you to get damaged by the frenzy pools (those black circles) Gore leaves: don't go near them.
