Yeah, it only makes sense.
And even if they would have the means, I don't think they want to deal with all the whining, appeals and sob stories. They'd rather give this all up for free and not deal with this headache.
That is crazy!
This a good move nonetheless. It was silly to link limited rewards to a Capcom leader board.
Under 2 minutes would have been an easy way to verify, it just isn't possible.
After all, without all these "cheaters" lots of people wouldn't be getting the final award now. Only the 10000 "best" people would be getting it. But due to the unstinting efforts of lunatics with clock-hacks and one-hit-kill trying to be better than everyone else, EVERYONE can get the ugly dangly thing just for getting an A rank!
Crapcom have really sent the right message here: that "cheating" is a perfectly valid form of protest.
That aside... everyone should probably still do their civic duty and report the first few pages of the leaderboards... not just for the challenge but for the regular Arena quests too.
Taking a Guilty-Until-Proven-Innocent approach would really hurt Crapcom's reputation. People aren't necessarily guilty of hacking just because they haven't posted a video of their run on Youtube or Discord. Not everybody records everything they do... which might come as a surprise to some in 2025.
Go look on Youtube. There are a few recorded instances of times below 2 minutes.
They never did, the game doesnt have anticheat.
The best they could ever have done is cut people which kill the monster in a few seconds lols.
The true and only real concern is they ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the future of the game, like banning mods via anticheat and so on IN THE FUTURE. For right now, they can do ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Mate, my mod list is basically 18+, by western standards anyway, mods.
There is no way it would be on such list haha and there is no way I would bother playing this game now at the 100+ hours mark without it either.
So I hope they dont ruin it, but we will see.
The fact they moved the rewards for the category and stopped bothering with ranks might be a good sign that they understand that ranking were a terrible idea from the start.
You can't trick Wilds/Capcom into thinking you're on the PS5 by plugging in a playstation controller into your PC. You can try it, I play with an xbox controller, when I matchmake via my platform only, I run across Steam users.
Well, thankfully they chose a completely different and more fair thing.
We still don't know what line they're gonna draw on who gets banned. We won't likely know what that line is even after this event finishes and they deal out those bans. Objectively speaking, in the past they've only banned about half the rage cheaters in previous Capcom event leaderboards. A thing that made everyone playing those games extremely salty and eventually quit competing. They likely will continue this method of enforcement against cheating.
