appearently i suck at monster hunter?
Greetings, so im a monster hunter player since the old days, played every game since monster hunter tri. I always thought im pretty good, since i played so many titles and i almost never die in monster hunter games. With the new arena quests im shocked that im just unable to get A Rank in any of the 3 quests. Do i really have to do the same quest 100 times and perfect every step to the bone or is it just massive skill issue?

Arena is designed for speedrunners, which is technically a different kind of game altogether.

In a normal setting, the only thing expected from you is not to cart. This is because you will fail the quest if you cart 3 times, and this limit is even tighter when you're playing in a group.

In arena, you are expected to dish the highest dps. So avoiding/parrying every attack becomes a requirement. Even in a group (2 people), you are expected to stand right next to each other so both of you can hit the monster's head and maximize your dps.

tl:dr; You probably just didn't work on your speedrunning skills. Watching a speedrun clip on youtube and trying to imitate them is usually enough to get an A rank.

Damn, i absolutely despise speedruns, i just want to enjoy my games and play in an immersive pace. This wouldnt bother me if they wouldnt lock items behind those quests...

You are not missing out much. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Its a skill issue. You may simply be getting hit too much, or dont know the weapon/monster as well as you think. Looking at the preset skills/mantle/items and adjusting your playstyle to them is also a thing for arena quests.

"Speedrunning skills" has next to nothing to do with getting an A rank in arena quests. Thats only squeezing the seconds/milliseconds out of them.

You can definitely get As without going for the speedrunner approach, you just have to lock in for a few runs and you'll get a good time

If it helps improve your time in any way, I call it speedrunning. What you describe only applies to the top 1% players who are accomplished speedrunners.
The only things locked behind the arena speed times iirc is the weapon keychains and Pick-A-Meal Tickets?

Mind you atm with all the cheaters and hackers most of the first page or so is just 0:00 to 2:00 times. So I wouldn't worry too much about it till after Capcom deals with them.

By the way, yes. For now its just a pendant, but there will be a lot of those challenge quests following and they all probably gonna have a reward like this...
to many untold factors ? do you normally play multiplayer ? if so you most likely carried through older games lol i have got a a rank in the arena quests !

not gonna lie their is sooo many players that have 0 idea how to play monster hunter who get carried through the games lol!

The pendant is rewarded for just participating in the quest. Tier 2 of the pendant is for getting a B ranking. Tier 3 of the pendant you can't get right now due to the insane cheating on the leaderboards. If you want to get A ranks you could try asking around for some help as these are surprisingly challenging to get A rank compared to the World arena quests. They still don't require perfect play however they just require you to keep the pressure on constantly, if you are not dealing damage then you are losing time.
A rank in arena feels quite strict compared to world. In world it didn't take much effort but in wilds it takes me a few attempts for A rank. When I got A rank on the doshaguma quest with GS it was like 4 seconds away from B rank.

yeah man that arena make me feels disgusted by my own skill....been trying to get an A on chatacabra and the lowest i can get is 3 Minutes 56 seconds using Hunting Horn
