you have over 200hrs, how is the end game? is there endgame?
Should i buy this or wait a year?
The end game consists of a loop of fighting the same 4-8 monsters and chasing a gacha system that consists of a worse version of the Safijiva weapon crafting from MH:World. It involves crafting an artian weapon and then reinforcing it to spin stat rolls on it. If the stat rolls aren't the meta you want then you have to destory the weapon to reclaim gacha currency to reuse it on the next weapon crafting. The meterials for artian weapon crafting are only available through tempered version of the end game monsters outside of Zoh shia (big raid type monster). Basically gacha hell and chasing needles in a hey stack.
I start off with 4 monsters as they are the only somewhat challenging monsters in the tempered state. And then the other 4 are classified as "apex" but aren't that hard to fight. So for some people they are just rotating through 4 monsters which is like a short roster because the lower tier monsters feel more like item pinatas.
edit: if you wanted to play the patient gamers route. wait 2 years. at that point the expansion will be out along with all the drip fed content.
I got over 200 hours and will definitely play more of it, since it's just fun to play. From memory, it's currently definitely easier and more forgiving than world was (and generally faster too as far as hunt times go, for me anyway).
The final few monsters will punch your face in if you are not careful, but are not too much of a challenge for people that have their fair share of experience with the series. People with less experience or that are new to the game seem to get carted by the dozen, from the sound of it (I only play solo or with friends so I can only talk about experience with randoms from what I read here or what friends tell me).
Endgame is the usual for a monster hunter game: hunt them to get the weapon/armor you like.
The first arch-tempered monster will arrive end of the month, we shall see how much this one hurts.
The next general content patch with a new monster is scheduled for summer with a crossover coming sometime on the way there too.
You won't miss out on much if you just wait and get the game at a later date. If you have friends to play it with now, i'd say get it.
I doubt we'll get the DLC before sometime next year.
Currently there's 30 monsters in the game (one of them being a low rank only variant) with 8 of them being "end game" and 2 of those arguably being the currently hardest ones.
If your PC has a 4070 super or better, I would wait until it's at least 50 bucks.
If this game didnt have such characters and story, I would now give it a positive one, but that aint happening haha.
