Game crashing starting today. Has worked fine before
Hey all, so I have started having rampant crashing just today. I want to start by saying that crashing is an issue I have had very few times before now. This includes before and after TU1. I crash within 5 minutes of loading into the game. Sometimes this is under a minute in, sometimes it is a minute or two into a hunt, but I have not been unable to go more than 5 minutes since it started.

I will post all the info I have below, but I am aware that I am below the requirements. While I know this means I am not officially covered as far as capcom is concerned, I have been able to run fine (if on low settings) before now and want to discover why it won't work now.

Windows 10
AMD Ryzen 5 1600X Six-Core Processor, 3600 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
16GB RAM
Installed on solid state drive with over 500gb remaining on drive.

Here is the CrashReport.txt https://pastebin.com/u5ZLyzgX
And the dxdiag https://pastebin.com/khcuSv7a

Here is all of the additional info and more importantly what I have already tried.

I do not have, nor have I ever had mods installed.

This started with slightly out of date graphics drivers. I have tried updating to the most recent drivers and I have also tried a rollback to the initial drivers AND a rollback to 566.36.

I have always had frame generation off in game and confirmed it was such in the config file.

The high resolution texturepack is not in use
I have tried to lower settings even further.
The game is whitelisted on my firewall.
I have, in the testing for this, been mostly running the game with nothing else running on my PC. No windows open but steam and MHWilds, and making sure to force close any other applications via system tray or task manager.

My computer is up to date and did not go through an update between the game working last and having issues now.
DirectX is up to date

I have tried a fresh install.
I have tried a computer restart
I have verified files
I have removed the crashreport files from the install file (and replaced them when it didn't work)
I have deleted the re_chunk files and then verified files to seemingly replace them.
I have run as admin (game and steam)
I have run in Win8 compatibility
I have run in Win7 compatibility
I have cleared shader cache
I have tried unplugging most peripherals from my PC (Such as headphones, mic, controller.)

I hope I am not forgetting anything I have done.

Please, if you can, help me out. I really have been enjoying this game and would like to keep up with it as weekly events come out.

Thanks

Such an unpredictable and technically unstable game. Only the developer can fix it.

Capcom become worst, back in the day they were a good company but now those days they are terrible. Waiting since release of the game for the frame gen error fix but nope still not there, and i can play all games fine except this game.

You wrote your computer is up to date, and yet it shows issues as if a Windows update has failed, in addition to a permission issue.

What background apps do you have running?

Not only that, but just in the time it took to do all the troubleshooting the OP did they could have played and beaten a number of other fantastic games that would have given them zero headaches.

background has nothing to do with it

If you think like that, then go help yourself. You will not get my assistance.
bro, this game's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ after tu1 for ryzen 1000 users. i have the same cpu as you have and game just crashes after a few minutes.

From what you describe it sounds like the computer runs out of ram where it loads lowtextures to compensate already. Hopefully not from your 1080Ti.

Try reducing your memory usage.
Copy your steam shortcut. Add this to command line options.
-no-browser
Start game by minicon in the taskbar.

If that helps, try stopping some unwanted services with the task manager.

Would those be from the tests I did not running the game in admin? I toggled most of these attempted fixes on and off while testing.
As far as the window update, I don't know. I made sure I was up to date.

Sadly that did not fix it, but thanks for giving a suggestion other than my pc is too bad.

What the game changed the most is updated the directstorage version.
That one is depending on the CPU and the SSD/NVMe the game is installed on.

Now the bad news, these are the current minimum requirements for the game:

Minimum:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows®10 (64-bit Required)/Windows®11 (64-bit Required)
Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-10400 or Intel® Core™ i3-12100 or AMD Ryzen™ 5 3600
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1660(VRAM 6GB) or AMD Radeon™ RX 5500 XT(VRAM 8GB)
DirectX: Version 12
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 75 GB available space
Additional Notes: SSD required. This game is expected to run at 1080p (upscaled from 720 native resolution) / 30 fps under the "Lowest" graphics setting. DirectStorage supported.

Your CPU/iGPU is officialy not supported and sadly lacks many features the required CPU's have and support. So the issue could be related to the new version of direct storage that has no proper support for your CPU. Maybe you can walk around this by downgrading the directstorage dll of the game (like the linux users did), maybe this will solve it for you as a temporary workaround. But in the long run, its sadly an unsupported hardware issue on your end.

Yeah sadly non supported COU by not supporting the needed directstorage feature on its latest version.
Kiririn Apr 12 @ 3:11pm
Do we know what CPUs support DirectStorage or is that simply an assumption?

The only system requirements I have seen for DirectStorage do not even mention CPU:
PCIE 3.0 NVMe
GPU with DX12 Ultimate and Shader Model 6.0
Windows 11 or Windows 10 1909 and newer

Yes we do, starting Intel 9000K (desktop, not mobile). Then Intel 10000 desktop and mobile to current. AMD Ryzen 3000(desktop, mobile 4000) up to current.

If your CPU supports fTPM, its mostly sure you also have one that support directstorage (by generation features).
Kiririn Apr 12 @ 3:40pm
I briefly tried tracking down a source before I commented because I am actually quite curious. Do you have a source?

Like I said, I never see CPU being mentioned at all, but I always see specific GPU requirements.
