Rey Dau - water recommended element?
I was looking for a fight where I could really push the Misutzune gear to its full potential and I stumbled upon Rey Dau.

I noticed that in the elemental recommendation it says to either use water or ice, but then on the actual weaknesses page, it shows a full row of 1 stars for water on every body part.

So now I just wonder... why? Shouldn't it be just as effective as fire, dragon which also have a full row of 1 stars and thus not recommendation worthy? Is this an oversight of some sort?

The stars for weaknesses are lies and tells you absolutely nothing. To see the actual weaknesses and hitzones of the monsters youll need to consult fan made charts, as usual.

Rey Dau is more weak to Ice than water. It ultimately depends what part you are hitting, but the rates for Ice are higher than for water.

Nu Udra is the one you want if you're doing water. Or Ajarakan, Gravios... even Rompopolo. Everything native to the Oilwell Basin is weak to water. Gravios in particular gets wrecked by water even more than raw, at least before its parts start breaking off.
Not to say Water is a bad choice for Rey Dau, but Ice is technically the right choice in that case.

I see, it's unfortunate that the stars don't align with their actual weaknesses. Thanks for pointing it out though! I wasn't aware there were fan made charts like this.

The stars tell you exactly what the Fan Page says, ice is always better.

Not really. The fan page actually shows the values, which show why water would make sense as a recommended element, as seen in the detailed strategy in the field guide.

based on the field guide alone, it didn't make sense that water would be recommended because in the suggested strategy tab, it shows a single star on all parts for water, fire, and dragon. looking at the fan page, the parts that are weak to ice actually take 3x to 4x the water damage compared to fire or dragon, meaning that water is not as far behind to ice damage.

All in all, this mismatch between the 2 different tabs in the field guide was just confusing.

The stars are generally good enough to go off of. The actual values only matter for damage calcs or in cases like this where it's not super clear.
Can confirm I just fought 4 Rey Dau (at the same time) with Mizutsune's LBG. It works.
Ice would work better, but it works well enough.
