I love MH but I'm curious about something regarding Elemental weapons...
WHY did Capcom never make Elemental damage deal ailment status effects? It seems a little weird to me that Ice doesn't slow a monster down (ESPECIALLY if it's their weakness) and prevent Water abilities from being useful, or that Fire doesn't cause a DoT effect that burns the monster while you do battle and negates Ice abilities. Or Water making Thunder Element monsters hurt themselves when they use their abilities, causing self-shocks to happen. And Thunder doing the same to Water Element monsters, as well as causing them to take more damage while under Thunder ailment. Dragon could cause a debuff that makes all enemy elemental damage to do less, and they take more. Like... there are no visual effects to showcase this. I just find it weird. Doesn't diminish my love for the game, just... was always curious about it.

What are the Flaming Espinas weapons?

Because it would be overpowered and even worse to balance than element and status is already.

Not what OP is talking about.

Poison and Paralysis are the only ailments that apply stuff. Flaming Espinas didn't do anything fire-related as an ailment. Only damage. The status effects like poison, paralysis and blast are not what I'm referring to.

Let them cook, who knows what monster hunter 27 is gonna be like. Also bring back requiring that you need to use elemental weapons with the monsters weakness to break parts, now that would be sweet.

Monster hunter 27 isnt out yet, that's 100 years away.
because its the status weapons' jobs to apply blights, not the normal elemental weapons. there could definitely be some more unique interactions ala feathers catching on fire, but overall its just not necessary, and its a bit too fantastical for every weapon to do that all the time. theyre not supposed to be magical elemental weapons of mass destruction, just stuff made from the parts of monsters that so happen to have affiliations with the elements

TBH, I feel the best solution to OP's issue would be go the Frontier route, and let weapons have dual element/status. I dont understand why the main teams seem scared of this idea, and I'm glad the Frontier producer at least got them in Sunbreak to have dual element weapons with Flaming Espi.
