Also is their an item (Jewel) that improves damage when riding your bird and using the charge attack option?
The devs also nerfed the ammount of damage you do when riding the bird, so I dont think they intend for you to fight mounted the whole hunt.
However you are free to play however you like.
I am new to the game, didn't know about the nerf.
Capcom is a Japanese company. The lance in a lot of Japanese media; games, anime, manga, etc. are not mounted weapons. They're big, cool, heavy weapons that do a lot of damage.
Monster hunter has never really been about mounted combat (and honestly, in this entry I feel that it’s a missed opportunity).
And technically speaking, the guns should be the most effective options in the game, with both lance variants coming in third (just after the bow). All allow for maximum engagement reach (which, honestly I would want irl against these things)
Can other weapon do that? Not talking about the single swing. But like a real jousting movements.
On Xbox controller you hold down both y and right bump to do the continuous jousting option until your stamina runs out.
Only other weapon you can do that with is the gunlance.
Hmmm I maybe on to something
that IS a handy way to pursue or open up a fight. but the better way to use almost any of the weapons is on foot.
Ironically, the best weapons to use mounted are the bowguns (because you don't lose access to half most of your moveset when mounted).
I tried myself, but I couldn't find any files that correspond to it. I suspect it would have to be fixed via lua script.
