Palico Armor purpose?

is it only for aesthetic purposes or armor actually makes any difference, I finished the base game and I don't think my cat ever died

it's just visuals. weapon however does make a difference.

It gives more armor, in older games it actually made the palico more resilient.
I don't know what happened in wilds but palicos are so tanky mine still hasn't died against even the strongest tempered monsters with nothing but the first armor.
In the end yeah, i guess they're just for show here.
