Should I buy this on PS5 or on PC?
I have a MSI Bravo C7V gaming laptop with a RTX 4060 laptop GPU and no PS Plus

How come that some people with RTX4060/RTX4070 laptop gpu's run it on High while others on low/medium? Some have already said that the Benchmark isn't a good indication of how well the game runs on your system which is sad.

When I run the benchmark with frame gen on medium I get 60-70 FPS at the town. So I'm still wondering how the game runs for me in other areas not in the benchmark.

Its not a plug and play experience (as you may need to tweak some settings to match your preference) like if you bought the console version, but its been pretty smooth in my experience. BUT if you have PS5, maybe its better to buy that.

What CPU does your laptop have? 60+ FPS on high doesnt sound bad. Do you have 16GB of RAM or more? Does it drop FPS in the town Benchmark? Also, your settings are on high, Is that DLSS or FSR? Quality/Balanced/Performance?

Also, what cooling fan do you use?

Havent change anything since i bought this laptop, so its AMD Ryzen™ 7 773HS with 16gb ram. There is an fps drop in Plains and Basin every once in a while, but only to like 51+ fps never to the point it bothers me personally. Upscaling are DLSS, Balanced. For cooling pad i used a local product, just make sure you have one where you can adjust the speed and is powerful (i only use like 30% of its full power bcs its just that strong but also noisy lol)

If you buy it on PC, just a warning the game may not start at all or may run extremely poorly.

If that's the case, you know you should refund before it's too late. If not, you will join the club and see why the game has "mixed" reviews, and even positive ones complaining about performance.

Also, see:

^ Only read the negatives since fanboys have started boosting the score

I just tried Benchmark on high, DLSS, Balanced. At the town fans went into overdrive and the FPS dropped till the end. The fans also didn;t stop overdriving until I restarted my laptop. I guess I also need a cooling fan.

Just a warning the game's release client is wildly different in performance from the benchmark. You've been warned :steamhappy:

Yeah, I've read some of the reviews. This game obviously has performance issues.

I'm still debating if I should get the game for PC or PS5. It seems like I have to pay extra either way. PS5 copy+ Ps Plus Essential or PC copy+ cooling fan+possibly 32GB of RAM.
Don't buy it at all, wait for the DLC, peformance fixes and most importantly a PRICE DROP.

No, it's not. If you ignore the opening cinematic in the benchmark (which boosts overall score artificially), the rest is pretty much the same as in the game.

Are you saying that game performs worse?

I'm also thinking of this.

TU1 in april, TU2 in summer, I guess, so expect first DLC in Q3 at the earliest. And price drop will only happen when sales start dropping. At the moment and since release, the game is #1 or #2 on Steam sales. So you are gonna be waiting for a while.

But PS5 version if you're fine with 30FPS.

I'm not fine with 30 FPS, but I've seen that the PS5 has frame-rate mode.(60 FPS)

yup, to my knowledge, thats exactly what thermal throttling was and ye it wouldnt hurt to have extra fan
After all considered, I have decided to put a pause on purchasing the game. I will however be purchasing Essentials this month so I can resume my save on Valkyria Chronicles. The pause will be until it's more known what the fixes in performance(if there will be any) will be in the upcoming months.
