I prefer something new. The old wine is still great, but new challenges are needed which are actually challenging.
Valstrax can't provide all the Dragon Quest Oomph this game needs, but it would be a healthy step. Some people don't like it when the game gets too "weeby", but the devs need to pick a lane. Do we want to be realistic or do we want to be anime? Wilds is currently failing at both, in my opinion. Not as realistic as World, not as Shonen Jump as Rise.
Edit:
To be clear, it's the difference between "action is more exciting because it contrasts the realistic elements" and "EVERYTHING IS ACTION ALL THE TIME."
Metal Gear would be the first one. Devil May Cry would be the second one.
hence why Valstrax will fit well
its not too realistic
and its not too anime
Valstrax is super anime. The dude literally flies out into space, creating an anime twinkle as he does so, and then divebombs you from orbit for a massive explosion. He has jet thrusters for wings with no plausible explanation. His design doesn't even fit in this universe, since it's based on technology that's at least a few hundreds years away.
I don't know how much more anime he could be unless they let him talk and give you a life lesson soliloquy during the battle.
The most interesting I consider Behemoth from the collaboration event.
those jet thrusters are from him absorbing Dragon energy and he uses them to HUNT DOWN ELDER DRAGONS. yes, he's a Nergigante, an elder that hunts other Elders.
Dalamadur is always what i wait.
