Its more of tradition. Mounting also isnt that efficient, but its fun. Or like you bother breaking all the monster parts instead of gunning the head only. Esp all of Nudra's tentacles. Not efficient esp when the group is chasing that last tentacle and nudra keeps rotating. Player just wants to goof off, its a game.
I think for a new player tho.... sleep bombing can be a big deal. You could break a part they had trouble with reaching or something and anything that brings a knock down closer is very good, since new players have a hard time fitting combos mid attack. They dont position, they wait it out.
No. Going always straight for the kill, unless I am after a drop which has a better chance via capturing.
Only time I really go for cap is same policy as MHRise, if the co-op dudes have carted twice and I ain't trust em to finish without messing up again, I'll go for capture just to finish it faster and safer.
I only ever sleep bomb occasionally for the lulz. And only when a monster happens to sleep when I happen to have bombs on hand. It's just kinda funny.
Ofc reserving the wake up hit to the biggest hitter but setting up bombs in the monster's head/ weakspot while the GS/ Hammer, etc readies their "big bang" doesn't hurt, easy 200+ damage per bomb.
If someone woke the monster up then oops, not a big deal considering how fast things die anyways.
With how "selfish" the franchise has become as of late, the small things like this where people who appreciate the intricate (if aged) mechanic that has everyone huddle up together without any word spoken but connect through knowledge alone is as close as we'll get to real life "direct drive zone" bullcrap. That silent albeit international camaraderie just hits different.
