Magic staves / wands...? 🤔
Throwable melee weapon.
I feel like there's many more ideas to explore. Especially in a "wild" setting. Also I don't really get why you can't have more than 1 weapon play similar.
Because like in most games they want it to completely have a unique feel and play style.
Personally I wouldn't mind a weapon that brought back the glaived older MH play style, I'm no fan of copter glaive and was stoked but they caved to pressure and brought it back lol
However it's not just playstyle either, they have a lot of skins per weapon and just 1 weapon addition means a ton of skins to work out for it as well lol
Lots of non magical weapons they could utilize but I get why they don't add more.
Well, how would it work? What happens after you throw it? How do you retrieve it? What does it do that's unique compared to other weapons? In Gen, there was a concept of a wyvern boomerang that was a giant, throwable boomerang that the player could punch to send back into the air.
Skins isnt really a problem, they have tons of artists who enjoy designing stuff.
What weapon would you add that doesnt already have a niche filled in the game?
They tried that with concepts in Gen, apparently. I'm pretty sure it became the palamute.
I wouldn't say skins are a problem but that is extra dev time not on in skins but move sets and all that.
I don't know if it's possible to give a weapon it's own niche you kind of have that pretty heavy in this game.
If I was picking 1 as we have something like Lance and gun Lance, similar weapons aren't an issue.
So I would with that knowledge give bug glaive it's niche of flying sky dance and bug forms make it more bladed staffs, and utilize its old niche of glaives through some kind of blunt staff, this would be a ground based staff for stunning and it builds up more mount damage.
I really just want the old 4U glaive back 🤣 and we almost had it here till they caved rofl so if I was picking I would add a weapon to either do sky dance and bring back classic glaive, or make glaive the sky dance abd form a weapon around it's old niche.
If you wanted to go really interesting you could do something akin to a chemist I mean there is already potions and stuff in game haha but eh not sure how I'd go about it
Funnily enough, Gunlance was different enough from Lance that they made Gunlance it's own weapon (it was originally a lance upgrade). But that's not my point. The devs said there's no plan to add weapons because every niche really is filled. They also dont want to add weapons for the sake of adding them.
I cant speak much on IG. For chemist, GU experiemented with the idea with Alchemy Style, being a group buffer with special action, and the alchemy barrel providing a wide variety of buffs. But from there, you could argue alchemy is already part of SA, Bow, CBs, status of any kind, etc.
