Question: How does the multiplayer stuff work?
I've been watching some videos and reading about it, but I'm still a little confused on how all of it works.
I know you can play single player, sure. But then I was hearing you could put certain settings and be joined to 'lobbies(?)' or something?

I'm just wondering if it's like...can you just leave it open and have random people join and drop around you?
Or is it only by invite when you go out into the world?
Or is it only in the town hub areas...?

I'm just kinda confused on how it works.
Thanks for any replies.

Oh so rando's joining only happens if you're doing a quest? It's not like "hey I'm out and exploring this part of the map and so are Stranger A and B and I pass by them in our lobby"?

I'm assuming quests won't run out then? Or they'll be repeatable? Otherwise what happens when you run out of quests? You just can't have people join you?

MP stuff is only the chat, which is always active, or the town. IF you want to play with people, it's make a quest in town, invite friends, invite via guild cards, join an active quest, or fire an SoS flare if you need help with something that you took on in your world you can't handle, or you just want to offer to other people because it is a rare spawn, crownsize etc.

Before you post a quest you will be in a lobby that can hold up to 16 players (maybe 100, idk exactly the changes, it was 16 limit on past games), anyone can join your quest before you depart. You can create your own private lobby too and invite your friends through a code or invite only request.

During your quest if your party if not full, you can fire a SOS flare and that will post the quest in the quest board and any random person can join and hop in, at any point in the quest, if no player join because you're playing offline, NPCs will join instead. If quite a bit of time has passed in the quest, people can join (even at the last second), but they probably won't get any rewards anymore.

100 players per lobby, but you can see only 16 of them.
Link lobby -> link environment = being in the same map (room).

ID / code = direct connect

Direct Steam invites: TBC

All quests should be repeatable except some key quests (main story quests, and still in most games they were repeatable). You're not going to meet random people while exploring, they have to join your party through the lobby quest board, or through the SOS call.

In a way it's kinda souls games if you ever played that, you only see other players while exploring if you touch their summon signs, not counting ghosts (you can also be invaded in souls but here there's no pvp obviously).
