as said in the video the PC Spec requirements are not returning the graphic fidelity it should IMO
Also it doesn't help Wilds with the colors so far everything looks so bland gray and brown and what not things don't pop out so far so everything just kinda blends together and it all looks mediocre, but that could just be the region the beta takes place in so hopeful the rest of the game does't keep that up.
For next beta i'll probably try a sweetFX and putting DLSS 4 and see if that will improve it any
I'm just more surprised of how demanding it is honestly
The beta is the last place to attempt to optimise performance due to the old build, just tweak around during the 2 hour refund window at release and use the steam refund system as its intended to be used if it's not running well.
Now I think the graphics are not compatible with the level of demand in this game, haven't seen the full game yet but we will see if it's true or not, it's a modern game anyway and we can only expect real optimizations after 2 years.
Objectively, if you look at Wilds and compare it side by side with World, Wilds does appear to be more technically advanced at the very least. But during actual gameplay, everything seems to blend together. The sandy ground and everything else covered by sand like the rocks at the cave you fight Chatacabra in - it all looks like it has a low res empty grey placeholder texture stretched to fit. The objects, such as your playable character and monsters, as well as all the environmental interactibles like bugs and plants you can gather are simply hard to distinguish from each other and from the background, as they mix together in one blob. And that's withous DLSS and Framegen.
Also issues with texture loading (I am hoping it's a bug of the beta) that make a lot of textures appear at low resolution irrespective of your settings doesn't help sell the visuals either.
No matter how I try to look at it, no matter what footage I see on youtube or even when I', playing beta myself, the game just looks incredibly ugly to me. Especially during the storm in Windward Plains, but not exclusively. It applies to other locales as well. At least, from what I've seen.
And it genuinely depresses me, because everything else about this game (besides the performance) appears to be fantastic.
I can only hope that at full release the textures issues will be fixed, some more post-processing will be added to make the game look less awful than it is now.
Still, ugly or not, it's not going to stop me from playing the game, since I mostly care about the gameplay. It just hurts me that what seems like its going to be the best MH game yet also appears to be the ugliest MH game.
I've also just finished replaying World a couple of months ago, and never have I ever thought of that game as bad-looking or dated. Despite the fact that is objectively dated at this point, the subjective visual experince feels so much better than what I've had from Wilds so far.
I've just watched some footage of a guy fighting the Chicken monster on youtube, and throughout the entire video all I could think of was "Damn, this monster would look so great in World..."
