I won't pay $70 just out of principle
Look I make really good money and can afford it but I think the continued price bar raising is unacceptable and just frankly greedy. As a long time MH fan I just won't do it. Why do that when 70 dollars in 3 to 6 indie games gives more value. Sorry I had to vent on that one.

70 for you, its a 100 for me. I still remember buying mhw for about 60 instead of 100

Okay

My 100 bucks went into 6 other games. I'm not paying 70+ for one game that might or might not be good. I can wait and spend my money without it being useless for months.
Pre orders are bait, but sheep still follow the herd. It's a bad habit.

Nah. I've not bought a single game at full price for years now and almost all of them aren't worth the full price anyways.
With the amount I saved with sales I can buy a new midrange PC. Not that I need it right now, just for perspective.

we did some maths and games in the 80s cost as much in proportion as games do now.

But in same 90s food and everything was 10times cheaper then now and cost of living, not to mention pc parts ,game not require last gen entry GPU to be played on 1080 30fps..On top of that every game in 80/90 were finished product, polished no dlc and micro transactions so you buy complete package, this is like 60% of the game for full price you know dlc coming and it will be cost 40+ too..So it's more about 120+ not 70,80 ,you can say you don't need to buy dlc but it's cut from base game on purpose

For niche single player games I can see this thought process.

But why miss out on a launch for the biggest game (so far) in MonHun history? If you are a true fan anyway.

I won't miss out, I'll buy it when the DLC is released. I'll get the full package and a better optimized game.
And mods to mod out the ridiculous looking stat bars.

comparing games prices from 20 years ago and now, saying price did not change ist more then debatable
even on pc 20 years ago "physical distributions"/boxed games, was what players paid for, by far most of the time
something that can be collected and traded
nowadays we have accountbound nuntradeable downloads
a by far far lower value for the buck
basically equal to a price increase by a few hundred percent
and if it is just for the reason oof elimianted resale value, factoring out all other related aspects

another point ins the decreased quality of games, that while looking better often get released prematurely, reuslting in shiplaods of updates
and not every developer is able to do a "phoenix from the ashes story" like hello games did it with no mans sky

another point is the games as service concept or inflated extra-monetarisation via dlc´s isntead of just releasing a complete game and maybe one big expansion.

things get basially absurd, if such accountbound downloads/games are sold for prices similar to those of neogeo aes cartridges
an extreme example are remakes of ps3 games that get sold for 3x+ the price of the roginal games,

Why are people making arguments for spending money? "I could by x instead of buying y" when you're inevitably going to buy both anyways and then you're just going to blow that money you saved on something that's not min maxing economically, we're not robots that work from 9am to 9pm manufacturing success (And I know because I tried this) you're going to buy whatever you feel like buy whenever you think it's going to be a good idea based on the product, your situation and whatever other variables effect such purchase, I preforded and then I bought a bunch of indie games and then I bought a bunch of battle passes and my wife was annoyed so she bought a bunch of ornaments that I frickin hate and make my house look dumb, like why do we need so many pillows on the bed when I'm just going to throw them on the floor when I go to sleep, oh yeah because we spend money on things that bring us joy and entertainment so we can gain a sense of progression and maintain a health mindset so we can do what we do to contribute to the societies that we exist in, you don't want to spend x amount on a game, ok, others will, it's basic business/economics, supply and demand, if there's more demand for something, it's going to get more expensive (and it's also more expensive to develop) welcome to the adult world, see you all hunting in wilds!

Edit: And btw go look at the cost of World in recent times, no where near the price it was on release, you don't want pre-order or recently released prices, ok, wait, obviously the negatives are you won't play in the games prime but it's not like Wilds is going to cost a price you deem unreasonable forever
