It's either Peak or Ass and nothing in between. It's such weird mentality. There good things and bad things in this game.
I would love to be enjoying this game right now. It's a shame how things turned out. Hopefully it improves.
However, don't just buy it sight unseen. Look at reviews and benchmarks online. Not everyone is going to enjoy what they see.
It's finished, like, literally, it's finished, as much as you're trying to cope, THIS is the finished product. Rise, they ADMITTED the game wasn't gonna be complete at launch and apologized but they wanted to get the game out. the update that actually finished the game came within 3-5 days i believe but i remember this.
they didn't do that here so THIS......is the finished state.
The fact that we get Canteena in TU1 is some weird joke.
I love MH, I loved all of the previous games. However, I'm not going to pretend like things don't exist because capcom isn't paying me to do that.
This game does not look good, it's graphics and textures are far behind for the time frame this released, which could have been excused if the performance was amazing and it was friendly to low budget systems, however somehow it's the opposite.
The combat is not good because there is tremendous input lag in this game, since the performance is poor and the methods to improve on that further hinder it. Rise had far superior combat in my opinion, and world also did (however they were kind of opposites, and I preferred Rises more than Worlds, but I see why a lot of people preferred the speed of World more.). This game could be solid combat wise, if they ever fix the input lag issue.
The map, despite being the largest, feels incredibly small compared to World because most spaces are useless and also claustrophobic. I never felt like this was truly an open world or exploring game, and felt that more in world, because they keep you from exploring until you don't even need to explore anymore.
This is an unbiased review because I really enjoyed their previous games. This feels like the diablo 3 release to me. The game is clearly rushed, unfinished, and untested across all of the aspects of it. It's pretty sad to see and was a waste of money to me. If I knew this is what we would have gotten, I would have just kept playing rise and world.
Lastly, and most importantly, a game that has been in development for almost 6 years, that is re-using things from many generations before, somehow has a lot of it's skills bugged out and not functioning, pop-up camps bugged, quests and progression bugged, and many more things including multiplayer being super bad. That's pretty unacceptable and shows a rushed and untested product, which I don't think we should accept as consumers, when we're paying good money for a finished product. This was not an Early Access copy we purchased.
So no, the game is not that fun to me to be honest, I only completed it because I missed the refund window on 1 out of the 3 copies I purchased trying to fix the performance issues and got stuck with it. The previous monster hunters were more fun. World and Rise looked better to me also which is wild due to the age gap, and they also perform better.
So I completed, got max gear, then uninstalled this game, and if I feel like playing monster hunter anymore I will go back to rise or world. I won't touch this game again. It causes eye strain even on the highest graphics because a lot of the textures are just objectively super bad.
The sad part is that people are defending this. They think after seven years this is acceptable. We can't change it now. Hopefully the updates improve it.
