So much effort for a Troll Post
Am I a perfect player? Hell no. But you respect the monster, abuse the openings you find, create what openings you can. and with a little preparation EVERY fight in any of the games is easy. Of this I am convinced.
Wilds FEELS good to play, and I know that others CANT play without issue, but Im playing at 59 fps, nearly max settings for 1080p without DLSS or frame gen, without issue and Im having a grand time. Everything feels... smoother? Less clunky, it feels like Im not fighting the controls and Im not so hung up on imaginary challenge and nostalgia that I'm yearning for worse hitboxes, awful movement, and really god awful lack of QOL mechanics. And I'm not so up my own ass about fidelity that I cant appreciate the environmental design and place settings.
Honestly, people are so... arrogant, about their own perceptions that if its not photorealistic, 4k, ultra wide at 300fps and so difficult the game reaches through the monitor and crushes their real or metaphysical balls that the game is a failure. They take EVERY opportunity to fall prey to confirmation bias to justify why they aren't being explicitly catered that its honestly kind of sad. They spend so much on their extreme rigs (which I have a sneaking suspicion are part of the problem, I mean its too frequent that people are saying "my 4090 super intel i7 super computer cant run this game" for it to be a coincidence), and I UNDERSTAND, but get so deeply pissed they have to lower settings that its just childish.
Not excusing the poor performance, but the vocal rage is immature. The company has confirmed they are working on performance behind the scenes. Patches can take time. Its been a MONTH. I dont understand ANY of the hate, because its really super easy to disprove alot of their positions.
I liked World, but everything felt too clunky that I used SnS by elimination. Meanwhile, Rise is clunky in another definition because Metsu Shoryugeki has a very long recovery even with all the decorations.
in Wilds, the combat feels more fluid and I can actually attack where I want, so I'm using Long Sword now. I had wanted to use elemental SnS my secondary weapon, but I decided against it because the flashing screen from Perfect Guard is messing my eyes.
Instead of writing out my thoughts and give Discussion users a novel, I'll write out what I value most in these games and let you come to your own conclusions. My criteria is based around three factors and in order of importance:
1. The mechanics around the game: Is it fun to play? Are exclusive gimmicks integrated well in combat? Do they make the game standout from others? Are the QoL changes meaningful?
2. Progression and Growth: Does the game respect my time? Is Low/High/Master Rank fun to play? Is the endgame worth progressing towards and staying in? How much do I need to grind to get a viable build versus a perfect build?
3. The monster roster: Are the monsters varied? Are they visually designed well? Are their mechanics intuitive?
When it comes to factors I value little in, I will be as blunt as a Hammer Main: I do not care about the story at all. I do not play these games for their tepid-at-best narratives. I care little about immersion. While things like hunger and temperature are a mainstay, more immersive elements are not ideal for long-term experiences and become intrusive and obnoxious (Monster Hunter is a series you can easily net 100 hours in without a second playthrough, I do not want piss breaks to eventually be implemented). Lastly, I do not care about difficulty anymore and haven't since World dropped, as it is not the focus for the series. If I care about difficulty, I will play MH4U.
