No Spoilers but need help
I beat the main story I think since the credits rolled but only HR 7 not sure how that's possible but alright.
My questions,
I'm still wearing the base set (Hope armor and weapons)
Do I need to upgrade that old stuff?
I've never crafted or upgraded anything.
After beating the game the entire layered armor (transmog) didn't unlock for all armor sets do I need to do something special?
I was told that after beating the game all of the armor sets become layered and available to transmog over armor right away without crafting the base sets first but this isn't the case.

Alright so I have to craft the armor before it becomes layered and there's no other way to get the layered skin right?
Not at this moment, no.

There might be event quests upcoming that will give y ou stuff

You do not have to upgrade old stuff other then weapons. You'll be able to craft HR versions of armor sets.

In order for layered armor to be seen you need to craft said peaces.

Is it worth upgrading the hope great sword to max? The layered version of it looks nice but not sure if weapons can become layered.

in monster hunter finishing story means nothing,,, it only means u finished the tutorial. real difficulty starts after u start taking on tempered monsters. then u will feel sudden need to building specific armour and weapons. till then just play with what ever u like.

Yeah, I'm going to craft some armor and weapons now to continue to push my HR up much like I did in Worlds.
Credits do not even mark the end of low rank. There are 2 quests after end of credits that finish low rank and move you to HR 12. First moves you to HR 8, then the second moves you up a full 4 ranks to 12. Only then are you High Rank.
