Why can't someone say yes and find their own way to the quest objectives? Why do we have to be led with a leash everywhere like it's some BDSM club?
If the NPC's are asking you if you're ready to proceed with the quest, they're asking you if you agree to be locked into some story nonsense and give up your freedom for a bit.
Just say "not now" if you want to go futz around for a bit.
Gather items while on rails, it at least gives you something to do. I even pulled out my capture net and went for all the endemic life i passed.
Gore is like 50 hours away for op.
Other games figured this out years ago, the whole being able to pick up a quest and find your own way thing.
There is no option to exit a quest once on it. I'm stuck at the camp. If I choose to return to the last checkpoint and start over, it just locks me back in the camp. I can't choose to exit and go back to exploring the world, I can't walk out the door, I can't choose another open world quest and pursue that. It forces you to finish the quest you started. You can't even view the world map and select another zone to travel to. My only options are to choose to depart, stick in camp, or post up a quest. I cannot just walk out of the cave.
2025 and Capcom is still doing dumb things.
FYI, this isn't my first rodeo with Monster Hunter. MHW/I and MHR both had far less restrictions on what you could do and when. You could Always return from quests whenever you wanted to go do other stuff, you never got softlocked until completing a quest.
If you don't understand why that's annoying, then I can't help your room temperature IQ.
