GL normal shelling lost interest ?
Hey,

Back to GL from Rise after grinding the game with my main weapon.

I've been playing all 3 of the shelling types, and while large's (so OP) wyrmstake and long charge shot are both clear dps pattern, I'm kind of mixed about normal shelling.

Either I slam burst just like previous MH game but damage are not amazing even with artillery 3 or I use the new burst system with 2 burst & 2 wyrmstake that large abuse largely but with less overall damage because shells do not deal a lot of damage (playing Rathian for now as I've just upgraded R8 artian CB so no material left).

On the other hand, with Gravios GL, charged shot were 80 each, which is far better dps-wise than just 25*6 on slams. (Tempered Uth Duna Artillery 3 dealt between 23 and 25 for each slam round, 20 on basic shots)
I must credit that having more ammo is better for mobility and perfect guard open to direct slam.

Am I missing something or is normal shelling as we usually used to burst just the weakest option ?

Wait, so which shelling type do you think is best? I've only tried Normal in wilds.
Never liked wide much in World.

Long might be nice with the way charged shelling works now, but if the capacity is less than normal that would reduce the max damage from the charged shelling...

Also, why did they bother with shelling strength if it was going to be "slightly weak" to "slightly strong"? They really love their small % differences in these games. I was expecting to find a gunlance with "very strong" eventually but apparently "slightly strong" is the best.

I use the new move loop. And the new moveloop benefits Large the most as you plant two wyrmstake to the target.

I'm not saying that the normal shelling is unplayable, just that both the other seem to perform better.

Imo large is the best as the new moveset just allow you to plant 2 wyrmstake which makes ridiculous amount of damage. I like long as it is fun to charge big shots but quickly boring.

Also sure info about raw scaling ? Usually GL canon damage are flat in MH and only scale on artillery.

well if those ta player using agitator in pure shelling style then yes, u can always use attack skill to test in arena

Well in that case I'll give it a shot with an optimal artian full raw damage build. Glad they decided to scale it.

However, the high commitment required to play normal shelling might be the worst in that regard as both the other are safer and need smaller(-ish) windows.
