Anyone else hate the new food system?
Man the cooking palicos were awsome in previous games, they were cute and funny and added to the overall charm. Cant have that!

So instead lets replace it with the stupid BBQ grill that nobody ever used ever, cause ya know having a cooking cat in each base camp (and a portable kitchen in the sub camps) that gives a 60min buff or w/e would just be silly.

Oh and now instead of unlocking new ingredients via sidequests and just paying money to get fancy food buffs you now need to farm consumable ingredients.
Dont want to bother farming? Ok fine you dont get the extra food buffs, but you ALSO only get the buff for 1/2 its duration so you need to whip out the stupid grill twice as often as punishment for your laziness.

i guess food buffs dont wear off it you cart now so thats good?
But now max hp degrades like stam so thats wtf terrible.
Oh and they dont even put a readable timer on the UI, you need to actually take out the stupid grill to check how much longer you have on the buff.

Like seriously, other than persisting through death is there anything actually better about the new way they did it?

Yeah just like most everything else in Wilds its a step down from World. Somehow.
I don't like that food buffs don't disappear when you cart, actually.

I prefer it this way. Sure beating playing the game for 20 hours with no health buff and +50 stamina only. It's not like people very care about gathering ingredients either. Jumping into a random session will always have all the ingredients in the Canteen regardless.

One - later on in the game multiple village's offer you meals (full Cutscenes and music with) that lasts a full 60min and is better than anything you can personally cook.

Two - At least for controller i hold Left Bumper to see buff timers up on the top left, you can see the food timer there too. I didn't find that out until very recently tho.

Three - If you build a *Gatherer Set* (Geologist, Biologist, Ranger, Intimidating, Lucky Find Set) You'll find a lot of wild herbs and wild honey very fast.
i like the new system.

I can agree on not liking the manual farming for food ingredients. They should just give regions food to us after we kill a monster in said region.

As for the grill. I think it is kind of needed now that you can complete many hunts in a row with out going back to camp. As for the degeneration of health and stam. That is what well done steak is for.
I just throw in one piece of meat and am done with it.
The additional ingredients being limited in number makes me not want to use them 'cause I don't want to have to farm them up again.

I don't like the gathering/trading for additional ingredients, much prefer the old unlocking ingredients and working out combos system from the previous games. The one we have just sees me cook only with rations because I hoard the additional stuff like crazy. I might need them by the time we get Master Rank XD

I only bother to cook when my health and stamina start to go down. I don't worry about farming anything or use high quality ingredients. There's no reason for me to min/max, yet. I'm cruising through.

Same old monster hunting path.

Going to take a break soon, hunters. Enjoy Mitzusune.

The fact that one time I cooked a meal while watching my 3 teammates fight a monster in the background was pretty awesome so I kinda like this system just for the hilarity of mid-combat cooking
Its very annoying.

This is what happens when they want to make an open world MH.
Like a few other things, Its taken (with a few changes) directly from Dragons Dogma 2.
I prefer everything about the new food system EXCEPT the lack of Babushcat and Meowscular Chef.

But a canteen is apparently coming in a future update so...

Wow thanks for the tip on the bumper thing, that actually helps alot and makes it less annoying.

As for the town meals its just not the same, i dont want to schlep to town and watch some family meal nonsense, i want to see cats juggling dango to music.
yes! i basically dont enjoy any system from this game ! literally hated the story and pushed through it to find monster hunter and all i found was trash not gonna lie!
