Controller / camera issues since the last patch?
While playing today, my camera would sometimes behave erratically, trying to forcibly move up if I had no input in right stick, and even shoot up if I slightly pushed the stick in the opposite direction.

I thought my controller was dying on me, but then I launched gamepad tester on other screen and saw that there was no actual stick drift, something just in this game is bugging out.

Anyone encounter something similar after the patch? Not sure what I could be doing to fix this. I turned off all auto-aim lock-on stuff, gonna play with the deadzone settings to see if they affect this.

The weirdest thing is that I can't see any major stick drift in the raw controller input, but the camera in-game bugs out, after everything working great since launch.

Using PS4 controller.

No issues here. The last thread I have checked about a similar report, turned out to be a hardware issue after all.

Share details about your controller and whether you have steam input enabled or not, after eventually fully charging it and restarting PC.

I'm using PS4 controller with steam input enabled. The game wouldn't recognize my controller with it disabled.

I'll def have to test this out more tomorrow after work. The timing just couldn't be more perfect, with the patch having just come out :meatytears: Though I can't rule out a coincidence.

I used this to check whether there was an issue with my controller: https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad Oh, and also Steam's controller calibration thingy.

With the test results consistent between those two, I believe it is not your controller's fault. But it is hard to outrule it yet. Do you have a second controller which you could use for testing?

Maybe something just needs a reset, whether your controller or the game needs to have the controller properly unplugged. I would also try setting up a different controller profile with Steam and see if that helps.

The game itself has also some deadzone settings which might be worth checking. I doubt that they do anything on their own, but one can never be 100% certain.

In doubt, run also the game update routine - tip #16 here - to ensure that all game files are as they are supposed to be and no hidden surprises in form of file corruption

Let me know the results and good luck! :MHRISE_OK:

I did notice some weird floaty inputs, like losing control of either of the sticks for a second or two. Using the same DS5 I always with DS4Windows, no steam input. Played others games with it after Wilds and no issues there.

Maybe this is related? The drift only occurs when there's stuff happening in the game. I can't replicate it in camp, only in field when fighting a monster.

Thanks, I'll have a stab at this tomorrow. Unfortunately, no other controllers, so this will have to do.

Oh wow, I think it was just a coincidence, and there was physical debris under the thumbstick that would sometimes mess up with the sensors. I managed to actually catch some erratic input data from my controller using the forementioned gamepad testing site while playing.

I pressed the thumbstick down and blew some compressed air through the gap and haven't had issues since. Thank y'all!
