How to lure gajau?
I need like 24 more of the big fish and since the others don't show up I try to fish out gajau. The problem is that they either never show up or never bite despite using the right lure and trying to move around. Also how do you reel on mouse and keyboard? My PS4 controller gets recognized as an Xbox controller and it's confusing as ♥♥♥♥ with the button display.
I heard fishing is currently bugged on PC.

Fishing is not bugged on PC? At least not that I'm aware of, I haven't had any personal issues. The Gajau likes the Duster rigs so make sure to use those. It may take awhile for them to bite however. I found that casting it right on them (or slightly above) and reeling somewhat fast makes them bite quickly.

Also the reel on mkb you just alternate the W and S keys.

sometimes they react only to tip the lure and not real it in.
the trick that got me to lure big fish is to throw it further out and then alternate between slow and fast reeling in just left right or just a small nudge doenst seem to get them interested

you can swap the button displays to PS4 in the settings, it has an option for XBOX, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo's button layout as well.

pressing w and s quickly as iff you were flicking a joystick up and down helps attract the big fish while using the right bait.

Area 17 in Scarlet Forest is a really good spot to grind out big fish. you can rest at the nearby camp to refresh spawns or just do the fast travel method, either way works.

if you make it rainy then then giant squid will appear in area 17 as well

Even though the game says to use the Tuff Joint lure for whoppers some of them prefer something else like gajau in your case also likes Duster Rig lure as mentioned in post #1, but in my case for them to bite I have to throw it so that the lure bops to me in front of its face as in spamming the lure towards you, dragging would also help, for the squids is the Tentacle Jig lure which attracts them easily, for the speartuna's you just have to drag the Tuff lure in the active bubble circle.

Also on PC controls doing W+S is slow reeling (for speartuna's and some others) and spamming S is to get the bobber to you.

There's also a decoration for outdoorsmanship that I used but idk how much more effective it makes you with fishing. Also there's a resting option in the same section where you make food inside the camp if you want to spam that to get fish to respawn. Costs 300 points but net fishing at the underwater lake gets those points back fast.

Reddit said so that you'd have to restart the game sometimes and that the controls are not working right. I was pressing W and S but it only resulted in jiggling for me.
And also I know about the duster bait! I ain't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lobotomized! I tried that but they rarely bite. I have already finished everything in the game except 100 multiplayer quests (kinda tricky if you're solo and I'm trying to get a friend to play), the crowns (yes, I know how you can spot them) and the fishing done for 100%.

A thanks! I didn't see that there was an option to switch button layout. I rarely use a controller on PC so I didn't care about the setting as much.
I was looking in area 17 and they spawned quite rarely for me despite the weather being plenty. The only reliable one was the squid that spawned every night.

Some of ya'll though need to stop making assumptions! I've been playing this series since MHFU and don't need this judging around! When I said I was using the right bait, I meant it. It's just that the added mechanic to move the lure around in a specific pattern for specific fish was annoying. It was never like that in the series. Now, stop being toxic everyone.

This is the way. This was how I'm working on getting that Afishionado achievement because this WORKS. I was frustrated for a while and this solved it for me.
