Controller Issues
My first 30 hours playing with the controller have been flawless so far but now I'm getting random drift in my right stick going down every 10-15 seconds while fighting, yet it doesn't do it in any other game. I tried changing the camera inner dead zone settings but it doesn't change anything which tells me it's not the controller but something else with the game itself. Any time I'm at the quest rewards screen I can't use A to continue until I alt+tab out and back in for it to read the controller again, nor can I use A on the map to fast travel from the d-pad navigation list however moving the cursor over a camp and pressing A to fast travel works just fine. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting the controller, reinstalling the steam extended Xbox controller driver, and disabling steam input yet these issues persist. Any suggestions or anyone else getting these problems?

I've tried putting them to the max with no change.

You need to adjust the response curve as well, though.

Not sure if its a coincidence but it happened yesterday for me too. Had no issues to begin with until my LS suddenly drifted to the left endlessly, couldn't press exit, A or anything. Disconnecting and reconnecting the controller then waited 10 secs solves it though.
If you are getting stick drift its a physical problem. Stop throwing your controllers and eating Doritos while gaming. Open it up and clean and calibrate it or buy a new controller.

Dug this up for you

the Steam GUI changed since then, but you still can find all the options necessary

In the calibration for testing for my right stick it just keeps slowly going up to the top of the entire zone, past where the max dead zone setting allows, even though the stick itself does not have any drift. Doing any input resets it back to the center where it again starts slowly drifting upwards.

I find it very hard to believe it that your stick has not any drift. Consoles usually have a correction automation on by default. So such drifts only are visible with special software.

In doubt, check if your controller manufacturer has such special software which needs to be reinstalled.

Other than that it sounds like your controller is definitely broken, and you just did not notice until now.
This is how far it keeps drifting even with the thumb stick being completely centered. Like I said, any movement resets it back to the center, where the stick is, and then it slowly drifts up again. My stick isn't wiggling loose like this shows meaning there's some software problem. https://imgur.com/a/Jk5hDgM

Hm. I need to check later if there are better solutions for that. Need to go for a doctor's appointment now.
After testing with another controller it seems there's an internal problem with my controller. Doing a driver update through my actual xbox didn't solve it so it's probably a hardware problem.

That is very unfortunate. :mhwhelp:
But at least you got now a clear hint.

Sometimes it is like it is. Maybe you can have it repaired if it is still covered by guarantee.

Nah, it was a few years old. Already grabbed a new one from my local gaming store. Thank you very much for helping me! I didn't know about the dead zone testing tool until you showed me.

Are you having disconnect issues as well mines randomly drifting and crashing, two controllers were old and one was new.
