For instance, "Return from Quest" is for stuff like tail-hunting. Chase a monster, cut its tail off, carve the tail, return with the carve.
"Abandon Quest" is for when the whole thing is a complete write-off and you wish it had never happened. Except they removed it. Funny how they're usually all about making things simpler except they've removed this old-school quality of life feature that was actually welcome.
Game autosaves, even if you don't manually. If you save before leaving for the uth duna fight, for example, and quit without saving (or the game crashes), you'll load at camp, after the cutscene, with the objective being "kill the uth duna". Previously, I'm fairly sure games would not save unless you specifically saved, and would instead load you back where you saved, prior to taking on the assignment.
Autosave might get in the way of quests with cutscenes, but everything worked well for my arena quests. Quitting without saving returned me to the base, with food buffs still at full duration, and no items spent. I could practice, but quit and retry if I made too many mistakes in the fight.
One thing I DID notice however is that if I started a Field Survey quest and then aborted the game process, when I got back into the game, the monster / quest was no longer available.
That is normal, since the spawn changes. And unless you save a field survey first, the moment you relog into the game the spawn changes again.
More to the point I dont really think this game is as punishing as older titles, you'd have to be really desperate for items to actually care about wasting them.
Where do you turn auto save off?
Can you please tell us what settings exactly? Every single google result says explicitly you can't turn autosave off.
Your box containing infinite item no ? No fear of wasting items
