also some use build guides for dps and some use dps meter and build their own build
its doesnt really matter if you use one or the other
Probably cuz they are still working on it if I was to take a guess lol early stuff be like that if it's true it's not accurate.
Even if it was working, they don't account for the little things, like boss aggro, other monsters on the hunt, etc.
So, even though those factors probably won't effect the highest level runs too much, it's wildly inaccurate for just normal, average player hunts and will likely do more harm than good. Especially in the hands of the people who would typically care about that in an regular un-serious hunt.
It's like using Healthbars on monsters. Like sure, just say you're bad at the game lmao.
Exactly. Using an overlay such as HunterPie, that tells you things like this

trivializes so much in the game.
Let me articulate a positive point of dps meter then. im not in favour of posting it in lobby but the positive is, that my friend was on cloud 9 how high his damage is and i know thats not correct because i dont see any monster responses to his damage. He spends a lot of time running around. So i got a dps meter to give him a reality check and thats a good thing unlike some softy's think.
We ran the same build, skills and i showed him that he was doing the bare minimum, that realisation showed him that he can and could improve. Moral of the story is that if i tell him that verbally its insulting but when he has it on paper and can get over his ego, he can use that knowledge to improve as he did. And to a veteran its a lot nicer to see someone trying rather than just running around like a chicken
You could do the same thing without a damage meter. Encourage them to try the fight solo.
Exactly why using damage meters is cheating.
This is the most fair point.
You optimize in training zone then you timing yourself by running the quest.
In the old game we didnt even have damage numbers.
XLink Kai people were chill and fine without it.
Kicking someone for posting Damage Rankings is fine because posting Damage Rankings is a competitive d!ck move. Kicking someone for posting Damage Rankings JUST because it is a mod is itself a d!ck move. Sucking up to Crapcom's EULA is a d!ck move.
Players with fundamentally different values would do well to avoid each other, both in-game and here on the board... but that isn't really feasible in practice, so I guess we just keep arguing pointlessly forever.
It's a good test and ego check.
It may feel easy to hop into an online hunt with three other hunters and beat on a Furious Rajang, but it's a bit different attempting it solo.
That could be a very fair point about incompetent players. I imagine that at launch this is the case. I don't buy most games on launch so I actually can't speak on that. I have certainly run into lesser skilled hunters in MP, but my overall experience has been different. Even with that chance I still find MP, in general, easier.
With how easy Wilds is I 100% believe that. My MP experience is majority Iceborne and Sunbreak.
