Ah so both lived there and then they split into different villages?
The wudwuds explain they use to filter the water for wyveria a long time ago (or at least imply it) so i assumed the humans were also a bit of a servant class. So the keepers were the workers who kept the torch and guardians for wyveria the same way the wudwuds were the water filter workers... i assume that the oil field people are descendants from the same type of thing.
I could be wrong but thats how i took it.
It's kinda like the people of the holy roman empire becoming turkish. If you don't understand history, it's not my problem.
Everyone from Wyveria is a Wyverian, in the way being from Europe means you are European. And Wyverian is already an existing word with another meaning (race of people with wyvern-like features).
They could have named this ancient city anything, they just chose the dumbest option.
