Hammer needs an offset or a block
I love hammer to death, its one of the most fun weapons to use but its lack of offset move, perfect dodge or block really holds it back. the Devs need to add atleast ONE of these to its moveset.

the upswing is an offset tho?
Hammer has an offset, actually.

overhead smash I > overhead smash II > upswing
spinning bludgeon > spinning strong upswing

Pretty useless as it's part of a committed combo. You can hold both of these for a bit but not move.

Someone said charged upswing also worked but I couldn't get that to work.

and hammer has a block, and to do perfect block you use Y+B
what? Y+B by itself isn't even a move. Let alone a block.

despite it having offsets in Wilds, hammer has been around for decades without offsets or blocks. slot evade window

The very last game had a block with water strike. Sort of. It just made you invulnerable during the attack entirely.
bad news, its true, hammer is one of the worst weapons in the base game.
good news. capcom usually goes overboard and it'll be fun, fleshed out and be OP in the expansion.

e.g. Gunlance was bleh in world, iceborne gunlance was amazing :praisesun:

You can move with circle while charging, and you can use triangle triangle hold triangle for the offset

Yes, but Rise's mechanics cannot be directly compared with mainline games. It's like saying any of the Hunter Arts from MHGen are comparable to MH4U weapon movesets.
