My stamina keeps shrinking even though i have a meal buff?
Usually within about like, 5 minutes of a hunt, whether i eat a brand new meal buff or use the one i already have active, i find my stamina bar shrinking. I eat a well done steak to brink it back up, but another 5 minutes pass, and it shrinks again. am i missing something??

I believe its because your character is becoming hungry or something. I encountered similar in World. I believe there is a decoration skill that lessens the hunger effect iirc

Top it off with a well done steak or, ideally, a ration.

It's fairly normal though it's supposed to be closer to like, 30 minutes, not 5. I admit I'm not well versed in all the skills and gem sets yet in Wilds, but do you have something that's increasing hunger\stamina drain?

This has been a universal constant since the inception of the series

Your Hunter is a person. People get tired when they're fighting massive monsters. If you were in the rink with a grizzly bear, and you somehow lasted 5 minutes, I bet your stamina would be getting pretty low, too
if you are in the frost area you need to take a shot of hot drink
cold is reducing your stamina over time

to add to previous points: cold areas cause it to shrink rapidly, the white outline should glow blue when this is in effect. counter it the same way you counter hot areas.
What is the point of big meals giving you +max stamina if the max stamina is gonna fall not even halfway through the hunt? Also the argument "you get hungry thus your stamina falls" would be okay if your max HP fell down as well since you get weak when hungry.
I'd rather have a large, BBQ grill meal, giving you a large HP bonus, while gaining max stamina should be delegated to snacking mid-hunt.

Half an hours is a half of your hunt? Uhh, bad news
Anyway, the last part is exactly how it is in the game. Meals mainly give stat boosts, special effects and max HP, while max Stamina can be increased by using Steaks and Rations anywhere any time. Or Wiggly Litches

Most of my hunts take between 5~15 minutes, I can usually do a couple of hunts before I have to glob down a ration. Something that might make you drain stam faster is being in the cold though, taking a hot drink will prevent that.

Food and drugs.
Eat before every fight and use Dash Juice and more.

In doubt, you get free rations with every quest you start. Eat that at the beginning of the quest.
