It's fairly normal though it's supposed to be closer to like, 30 minutes, not 5. I admit I'm not well versed in all the skills and gem sets yet in Wilds, but do you have something that's increasing hunger\stamina drain?
Your Hunter is a person. People get tired when they're fighting massive monsters. If you were in the rink with a grizzly bear, and you somehow lasted 5 minutes, I bet your stamina would be getting pretty low, too
cold is reducing your stamina over time
I'd rather have a large, BBQ grill meal, giving you a large HP bonus, while gaining max stamina should be delegated to snacking mid-hunt.
Anyway, the last part is exactly how it is in the game. Meals mainly give stat boosts, special effects and max HP, while max Stamina can be increased by using Steaks and Rations anywhere any time. Or Wiggly Litches
Food and drugs.
Eat before every fight and use Dash Juice and more.
In doubt, you get free rations with every quest you start. Eat that at the beginning of the quest.
