No, Monster Hunter Wilds did not “lose 70% of its playerbase”, its peak concurrent player count on Steam is 70% higher than its current lowest concurrent count during the slowest parts of each day.
People took days off work to play through launch weekend and stayed up late at night to play as long as they could. It is now over a week after launched, people are taking a break, settling back in to their normal schedules, and the concurrent player counts are never going to see the same total number of players online simultaneously. The player base is still there, they just aren’t all playing at the exact same time, which is what concurrent player counts mean.
And in spite of all that, who ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cares? The game remains dramatically higher than World’s peak player count ever even during its lowest concurrency periods. It’s still claiming the #1 best selling game slot on Steam, only being knocked down to 2 by the latest Lethal Company YouTuber bait clone during some parts of the day, there’s SoS flares for every monster of every difficulty level in every one of the tens of thousands of lobbies active at any given moment + crossplay with consoles.
The game is doing just fine, and it will continue to do just fine, and any claims to the contrary are massive, apocalyptic amounts of pure distilled Cope by people who just want to whine for the sake of whining.
Go do something productive with your time instead of whatever this ♥♥♥♥ is. Good grief.
What were the expected rates then?
this is still 3x as much as world's highest peak. ;p
Its like Inciting a Mob is not a ToS violation, but name calling is. Steam really needs to decide if it wants to follow its own ToS or not at this point. Hard to tell what is and isn't allowed when Steam doesn't even punish people who violated the rules fairly.
I for one am surprised it is still so popular after over a week.
2. OP maybe you heard about timezones? 3rd grade stuff.
3. Peak was 930k so cope harder
