Would you guys recommend using Greatsword in MH Wilds?

I'll be honest, I hate the Greatsword. It's slow, requires good positioning and good understanding of Monster attack patterns and behaviour to use effectively. However despite my hate for the weapon I sometimes feel like pick it up and trying it out especially when I see many skilled players wielding it, and I feel the new additions in Wilds will make my experience with the weapon better (plus wielding a gigantic sword just feels cool). What do you guys think about the Greatsword in Wilds, and would you recommend me using it?

I wouldn't recommend it because it's clearly not your playstyle, which is fine however I would suggest trying it anyway. The offset move with focus mode allowing you to turn 180 at any time makes the weapon a lot easier to utilize at a basic level.

As a GS main I can tell you Wilds has the best version of the weapon. Once you get the feel for it you will feel unstoppable. Just try to focus on perfect guarding instead of dodging. And the offset counter attack feels so satisfying when you got the timing down.

Greatsword gives the greatest satisfaction on a hit that no other weapon can do.

I loved GS in world and had like 500 hunts with it. I hated it in RIse because of all the crackhead monsters. Now in Wilds I fell in love with GS again.. literally my main Weapon since aiming TrueChargeSlash is as easy than ever with focus mode and hitting the offset attack is satisfying af. Guard Clashes are also awesome and guard finally doesnt eat sharpness so hard than in other games.

I can't recommend it enough. Wilds GS is the best version of it. By far. Imho.

Yeah, but learn how to guard cancel and it saves you a lot. (It's move in a direction + guard) and you can recover faster from attacks or whiffs.

so when monsters were trying to stay alive, joke of a weapon which is gs, suddenly become bad hah.
GS in MH is piece of weird bs, it is basically charge weapon.

GS wasnt bad in Rise. It just has better weapons for me to fight these fast monsters. In Rise I loved DB wirebug spam so much.

Wait, wym? You mean that GS was supposed to be a charge weapon and Rise ruined it, or GS in general was already ruined BECAUSE it was a charge weapon?

Not to be argumentative, but if you're saying the latter, you're gonna have a tough bar to clear to prove that. Ngl. Great Sword has always been eating good; it just forces you to alter how you eat. Lol.

It's your game, use whatever feels good to play for you. There are 14 weapons, there is something for everyone.

Maybe one of those weapons would suddenly be the revelation for you.

For me it was Dual Blades, because it's fast, you have Bloodborne dodges, you don't need to deal with the cringe sheathing every 10 seconds just to move from point A to point B and you get to pull out precise focus strikes in 0.1 seconds that make you fly over the place immune to everything.

And before I started, I never even considered Dual Blades. Gotta try things out.

It ain't my fault that Spread got nerfed to hell and back!!!!! *Cries*

But honestly, the Bow is eating good. I did GS in World and Rise, and I did Bow in those games too. In Wilds, the Bow has tracking arrows and trick shots. I gotta try em out more. Lol.
