i mean, if you are THIS picky, then you should do solo runs. clearly lot don't give as much as ♥♥♥♥ so your supposed situation don't happen anyway... or you could tell your randos to not capture cuz you have carving buff. your choice really. and trusting the community to do the right thing don't work at least 50% of time anyway, so less giving ♥♥♥♥, more fun for me.
I do solo runs, exactly because of people being jerks. I am the most selfish ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I use the sos board to leech off of other people's investigations until a monster shows up for me, make the investigation, and then selfishly solo hunt all the charges away without giving back to the community. I would prefer to not have to do this. And think how much worse the game would be if everyone did this? IF everyone was as ♥♥♥♥♥♥ as me, then this game would die in a week.
"This just in, dude wants to play the game the way he wants, but doesn't want others to play the game the way they want, expecting them to read his mind and do what he wants. Still participates in the system and just complains like a baby. More at 7."

no it doesn't give better rewards, it gives less chance of higher tier rewards at the exchange for time.
I don't have the answers, and honestly I don't really care because I'm enjoying the game and just having fun playing it, and like to switch it up on whether I'm capturing or killing (although I'm bummed that you don't get to see the monster you capture being studied at base anymore). But a quick google search finds some pretty convincing information...I guess?
In Monster Hunter Wilds, capturing monsters often grants players more materials, especially for completing quests, as it rewards you with three "Target Reward" materials, whereas killing them gives only a few.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
Target Rewards:
Capturing a monster immediately rewards you with three additional Target Reward materials, which are also given on the quest reward screen even when killing and carving.
All materials are "Target Rewards":
In Wilds, every material a monster can drop is available as a Target Reward, making capturing a strategic choice for farming materials efficiently.
Long-Term Material Farming:
Because every material is potentially a Target Reward, capturing is likely the more efficient method for farming materials in the long run.
Breaking parts is key:
Capturing does not give you broken parts or wound rewards, so if you are looking for a specific material from a broken part or wound you may want to continue the hunt rather than capture.
Faster Hunting:
Capturing can also end the hunt faster, which can be useful if you're prioritizing speed or just want to get the quest done quicker.

I don't know how accurate it is, and I likely wouldn't unless I actually tried figuring it out on my own, collecting data and compiling it...you know, since everyone thinks they are right so who the hell do you believe? But, again, I'm just playing it and having fun. Just enjoy the game peeps, play it your way. 🤷‍♂️

But also, if you're a sour puss dumb ♥♥♥♥ like the op, then don't play multiplayer instead of complaining about how people choose to play their game.

You are wrong about capturing giving more materials, it gives the same amount. You get 3 carves, or 3 items from capture. The rewards for quest completion are RNG and not in any way tied to kill or capture.

You can get more rewards from capture using the capture meal, and more rewards from kills getting the carve meal.

The ONLY difference between them, besides some percentage differences, is hunt time. That's it.

The people online claiming it give more rewards, almost 100% of the time, have the capture meal and just don't give a ♥♥♥♥ enough to realize it.

Honestly I'm just sick of people continuing to attack a monster in a trap when it is capturable.... constantly... consistently... even in my own hunts. I swear so many times I've wanted to just kick everyone from the hunt AFTER the hunt was over because they're all a bunch of disgusting murder-hobos trying to ruin my capture count.

But ultimately it is my fault for thinking I'd do something nice and share my good investigations with them. I find something nice, want to share it with people, and they try to ruin it. It is so much easier to hunt solo, but I know how difficult it was to find decent investigation targets earlier on in High Rank and just wanted to pay it forward when I get something good.

If you kill it then you can't torture it later though. You can't make it regret existing.

This is a myth. It gives the same rewards as carving. MOST of the time. Wilds removed the capture versus carving drop rates. However, it did not remove food buffs that give you extra carves. And you do not get those extra carves if the monster is captured. So, anyone who has a carving buff, actually gets less rewards from a capture. Wilds completely changed the way drops work, and now it is almost always better to carve when it comes to reweards. The exception is if you are playing solo or with friends whom you all know didn't bother to get food buffs. But everyone is really bad at this game, so no one will ever know this or bother to learn this.
myth or not, its true

...what??? Make this make sense

You get to fight the monster again if you capture still, right? Wouldn't that give even more rewards?
