In Monster Hunter Wilds, capturing monsters often grants players more materials, especially for completing quests, as it rewards you with three "Target Reward" materials, whereas killing them gives only a few.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
Target Rewards:
Capturing a monster immediately rewards you with three additional Target Reward materials, which are also given on the quest reward screen even when killing and carving.
All materials are "Target Rewards":
In Wilds, every material a monster can drop is available as a Target Reward, making capturing a strategic choice for farming materials efficiently.
Long-Term Material Farming:
Because every material is potentially a Target Reward, capturing is likely the more efficient method for farming materials in the long run.
Breaking parts is key:
Capturing does not give you broken parts or wound rewards, so if you are looking for a specific material from a broken part or wound you may want to continue the hunt rather than capture.
Faster Hunting:
Capturing can also end the hunt faster, which can be useful if you're prioritizing speed or just want to get the quest done quicker.
I don't know how accurate it is, and I likely wouldn't unless I actually tried figuring it out on my own, collecting data and compiling it...you know, since everyone thinks they are right so who the hell do you believe? But, again, I'm just playing it and having fun. Just enjoy the game peeps, play it your way. 🤷♂️
But also, if you're a sour puss dumb ♥♥♥♥ like the op, then don't play multiplayer instead of complaining about how people choose to play their game.
Yes! Exactly!
You are wrong about capturing giving more materials, it gives the same amount. You get 3 carves, or 3 items from capture. The rewards for quest completion are RNG and not in any way tied to kill or capture.
You can get more rewards from capture using the capture meal, and more rewards from kills getting the carve meal.
The ONLY difference between them, besides some percentage differences, is hunt time. That's it.
The people online claiming it give more rewards, almost 100% of the time, have the capture meal and just don't give a ♥♥♥♥ enough to realize it.
But ultimately it is my fault for thinking I'd do something nice and share my good investigations with them. I find something nice, want to share it with people, and they try to ruin it. It is so much easier to hunt solo, but I know how difficult it was to find decent investigation targets earlier on in High Rank and just wanted to pay it forward when I get something good.
i'm mad cause i wanted to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ keep going, i'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rabid here. My lust for combat has not Been satiated.
BLOOD FOR THE EMPERIOR, SKULLS FOR THE GOLDEN THRONE!
