with what hammer attack can you counter monsters ?

I saw that you can counter monster attacks with some hammer attack, I got it down for greatsword etc. but I don't really see what hammer attack can do that ?

the upswing or "golf swing" the 3rd hit in your basic Y or left click attack, you can also hold it

tbh the WORST off set attack in the game.....but im making it work

You can stagger the swings, too. meaning you can swing, take a couple steps, swing, take a couple steps, swing

and the third swing can be held u til you need to use it

It's definitely not as reliable as the weapons that can offset from 0, but it's more versatile than it seems once you get the hang of staggering it

Probably youcan do it with pressing YYY or BBB because more flavours aren't there in this braindead combo system !

Hardest part is actually timing it, more than likely you just come down to luck if you actually hit it at the correct time.

Timing the attack it is super easy. You can just hold the button and instantly release whenever lol. It's setting it up that take some foresight.

besides what everyone said, the second charge attack, the running upper cut can also offset. A little strange that if you charge too deep, you loose the offset and it becomes somthing else.

There's a time limit though so you can't just sit there forever. One of the less useful offsets honestly.

Charged upswing? No way. On the training dummy I can perfectly time regular upswing and spinning upswing offset 100% of the time, charged upswing never works.

I'm giving that some serious testing when I get off work tonight, cause if thats the case then its a game changer.
