Artian weapon grind designed to waste your time?
Why can't you just keep reinforcing the weapon until you get all the reinforcements you wanted for the weapon instead of needing to scrap the whole thing and hope your next Artian weapon will finally have the reinforcements that you want for it?

It´s called endgame and it´s pretty common in ANY PvE-game with min/max out there. You´ve something to grind with a bit of RNG, so players mostly have a long-term goal instead of getting everything within 2 hours and drop the game.

Might not be for everyone but it is what it is and looking at this game-series, the Diablo / POE franchise or even Destiny, a lot of players love to grind for those max stats.

Also you might get some other lucky roll for a build you never thought about.

Its not even that bad, you get all Upgrade Materials back, you just need the crafting Parts.
I heard that the rolls are fixed based off of weapon and rarity combination. So the fast way to do this is, let's say you want to make a GS. First, make an artian GS. Upgrade it? does it have what you want? then quit the game without saving and make the same GS but with the element/infusions you want. Not what you want? create another artian GS and upgrade. Repeat until yo get the rolls you want. If the 5th GS you crafted and upgraded has the rolls you want, then quit the game without saving, make 4 random artian GS, and then make the 5th one with the rolls you want.

I typically try not to encourage devs to remove endgame activities, as I like having activities to do in endgame

Just use normal weapons. They game is easy enough as it is. Nothing worse than having everyone running around with the same dumb looking weapons anyway.
As of now you can break your weapons and get the ore back, so you're mostly do grinding for the weapon parts. With a change you could keep rerolling a weapon, but you would mostly do grinding for materials to turn into ore.

Nothing would really change either way. Though as of now, having raw dmg with high crit seems the way to go, so you can just combine any weapon without the need to get specific elements, so currently grinding isn't as bad as it could've been.
