Gravid Bowfin quest is broken

Hard to find and when you do find it using the right conditions, the fish doesn't take the emerald bait despite using the right movements.

There is something seriously wrong with this game's design when the hardest quest in this game is not defeating a certain monster but catching a fish.

slow real requires you to circle the left stick around at a decent pace. this attracts a lot of fish. once they approach the lure, just tap down on left stick to make it hop. dont do it too often because it can scare them off. casting behind them and then reeling slowly gives me the best results. fish are easy once you get the hand of it.

it only gets worse from here, it took me 3 hours to spawn the grand escunite, good luck

I completed these fairly easy, the Gravid Bowfin spawns in Oasis at dessert map, also on area 1 heading towards area 3 at Forest map ( Sorry dont remember map names) when you throw your fishing rod, aim it close to them and flick left to right on joystick that should lure them.

Finally caught one. Would be nice if the game showed all the controls while fishing instead of leaving it all in the tutorial where you'll forget about it by the time you get to HR.

I got to the whopper quest. Guess what? Found one easily and it took 2 tries. Far less than Gravid Bowfin.

Horrid design. Shame on these devs for ruining what is normally a good minigame in games. Never let them cook with fishing again.

its imposible , the fish is bugged wont bite . i even used the emerald bait , the wood bait . nothing works i have been trying for hours the stupid fish just ignores it . i even had a situation where i had 4 of them in 1 area . got lyterali every other fish and the gravid bowfins just ignored the bait and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off once the time of day changed

There's a flooded cave in the forest where they spawn all the time. It took me 3 hours probably to do the entire fishing questline, if even.

Nowhere in the game does it tell you that high rank fish won't bite unless you reel in the line, and no where does it tell you how to reel in the line by rotating the stick.

-throw normal wooden bait in front of it, close proximity
-press S once, dont reel, dont jiggle, just once.
-watch how it bites

this fish has unique behaviour, not like other 2 types.

ok i got a pretty good method
use the emerald bait , throw it in water and spam S key in like 1,5-2,5 sec intervals try what works best but like this i got 2 in a row in like 30 seconds

rubbish fishing quest , capcom how do you test those quest while its not working on bait?

if you are having issues with it go to the plains Oasis during the season of plenty in the morning. Use the emerald bait and do the slow reel motion but do it when the fish get pretty close to the hook.

Gravid Bowfin is rigged to only be attracted to the slow reel. Which is annoying since you have to rotate the stick just right. It will also do fake out bites so don't press RT until it bites for real.

Stupid-ass fishing quests with fish that don't have a guarantee to spawn. A quest should not be "wait till it works".

For those with just the keyboard, use the emerald bait and you need to tap W and S in a slow rhythm to make it slow reel. It's not explained well in any guides or video for some reason.
