peeps just dont run a stress test and get surprise when a game loads the cpu/gpu harder than usual
Core temp shows a 70°C average but does hit 100°C under heavy load.
Task Manager showing GPU steady at 60-65°C.
Some people are having issues with the 50 series but as you said, could be CPU related.
For me with such an older CPU, these mods have been a god-send.
Not too bad at 4K, roughly 10-15% maximum....though that still warrants upgrading!
What you do actually is hurting more your CPU check if you can put thermal paste or a water cooler into it if you not have one but in that point if you have the money just change your cpu and put a water cooler on it
It's water cooled, it's 6 years old and it's overclocked heavily, It's been a beast.
The throttling is normal - it cools down from 100°C very fast, almost instantly.
Plus I don't really trust Core-Temp, as I don't see drops in frames when it throttles.
You can definitely hit 60fps at 4K Ultra without Frame-Gen but it's not consistent.
It's actually a way better CPU than you think when overclocked.
