REFramework dinput8.dll flagged as a trojan virus??
Installed REFramework from github two days ago and have not had any issues running the game with it. Suddenly today when I launch the game, windows defender immediately flags the file as a trojan virus stating :"Detected: Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.B!ml"

Tried the latest version from github and the one on nexus and they both get quarantined as soon as they get unzipped. Anyone else run into this? Seems bizarre to be fine one day, and then boom, virus the next.

I am still running version v23H2 of windows 11.

I wish this had happened to me. Then I could have refunded this gasping, pathetic excuse of a game before enduring the shame of playing it.

could be a false flag or windows updated their threat definitions. If you want to be safe I'd uninstall it until you know it's actually safe

False positive. Probably an isolated issue. You can doublecheck by uploading the file onto Virustotal e.g.

How exactly is this a game related question? -.-

It absolutely is not. But by experience: it is no use trying to teach them that.

The correct approach would have been to make an information request on mentioned github page. That is what github is good for, after all.
dinput8.dll? I haven't had that happen to me and i did a manual scan too. Also seems like from virus total, microsoft doesn't mark it as a virus

Because it is related to launching the game. That game being Monster Hunter Wilds. That game which is on Steam, in which this post was created. If you can't see the relation, then man you got some problems.

Like others have said, probably a false positive, BUT........

You should confirm that the hash of the file is the exact same as the hash suggested on a reliable website AND double-check it with a second antivirus (in a different software than the one that gave you the positive result).
You can NOT be absolutely sure until you do BOTH of these things. If the hash doesn't match then you can assume the file was compromised and is infected. If a second anti-virus also says it is positive then it is, again, likely infected.

Could be that somehow you downloaded an infected file. It happens sometimes... Sites get compromised ALL THE TIME. We just don't hear about it very often because companies always try to sweep these things under the rug and/or just plain don't admit they were compromised.

What in-game advantage does running the game at my native aspect ratio provide me, I'm curious.
