Frequent crashes using ROG Ally X.!
Anyone running Wilds successfully using a ROG Ally X without any game crashes!?

I’m always running on 30w Turbo mode with power cable plugged in. Upon initial game release, I clocked up about 8-9 hours gameplay with minimal issues running the game on medium preset settings, 900p, AMD FSR 3, and device GPU RAM set to 8GB. I think I hit one random crash when multiplying with friends.

Then they brought out that first patch update, and since that update I struggled to load a recommended online lobby, even load a single player lobby wasn’t working! Constantly crashed at that point trying to load a lobby.

So I ran through ALL the troubleshooting steps on the official Wilds website and on the Steam discussion forums. To no avail. Nothing stopped it crashing. So I reset the shader cache from within the AMD adrenaline software. Which seemed to stop the gane crashing when trying to join a lobby. Whoooo thought it was sorted!

But since getting in game again, I’ve had regular crashes!! So frequent I can’t even get 10 minutes gaming without it crashing! I’ve not long defeated the Black Flame in the Oil Basin map. Literally just exploring and gathering and the game freezes and then crash log dump!

So I’ve been tweaking game graphics settings, presets from medium to low, even lowest… and custom where turning most things to low or even off.! Still bloody crashes! Really frustrating!! Upped the GPU RAM from 8GB to 10GB and even 12GB, still crashes! Game utilises around 5-6GB when I check the game resources in use. So can’t be a resource issue. And the ROG ally X comfortably has the recommended specs!

I got that annoyed I’ve logged a support ticket and gone through the pain of their 12 questions and all their troubleshooting steps, Verified installed files via Steam, nothing works!!. So I’ve uploaded crash logs, config files, diags and screen shots, along with everything I’ve tried.

Has anyone got working settings or methods to try to get gaming again? That first patch update seems to have completed stuffed this game for me!!

Hey guys… another update! But really positive one this time.

Capcom released another game update today, but it doesn’t fix the crashing issues I was experiencing!!

So I’ve decided to manually update the AMD drivers to 25.3.1 as there are quite a few posts around and YouTuve videos advising this.

I followed this guys YouTuve video - https://youtu.be/pgyGvZlAfh4?si=WgXGq7_afwVSgesK

Since updating to these drivers I’ve had no crashes and I’ve been playing the game for about 3-4 hours so far 🥳🥳🥳. Even though I was hesitant as this driver version isn’t available in armoury crate, so not ‘official’ from ASUS testing, it’s working OK for me. Maybe it will appear as a driver update in the near future within Armoury Crate…
Haha yea i just watched that and did the steps, but havent logged in to test it out due to bed time, let me know what settings youre able to play in though o7, ive been playing with 720p, window 8 compatibility my whole gaming time on ally extreme before this video came about.

Hm... I am not really convinced... I mean I did that right from the start what is described in the video, so I am not sure it does that much. :lisr_chloe_laughing:

But hey, whatever works for you. :mhwgood:

Hey. I use mine on 900p, turn off any compatibility I never used that setting. 120hz refresh, 30w turbo mode (always plugged in), and then I have the graphic preset settings on Medium within the game, then I went and turned a couple of the setting that remain on high and knocked them down to medium. This worked for me and have managed several hours of gaming since manually updating to the AND 25.3.1 drivers. I used the ROG Ally Life website game settings for comparison… just turn off anything high really.

Has definitely worked so far for me, fingers crossed it says working too.! I had consistent crashing in Oilwell Basin area, could literally preempt the exact point in the map when it happens too… after updating these drivers manually i spent a good hour or more zipping around gathering just to traverse as much of this map as possible before moving on in the quests.

I was also able to fix my issues with the video posted above as well, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgyGvZlAfh4&list=LL&index=1

Superb 🙌🏽
I am playing on Ally Z1e and constantly crashed before at mid settings. So last weekend I played around with the settings and I have not had any crashes in the last 5 days. Below are my settings currently using without crashes:

700p upscale to 1080p with AMD RSR
Low settings with prioritizing graphic
Turn off in game frame gen
Run Lossless Scaling at 2 or 3 (on 3 it can frame gen up to 60fps in game, on 2 fame gen between high 40s to mid 50s)

It is working really well for me, giving me both acceptable graphic and performance.

:steamsad:Running in my Lenovo Pro7 with Geforce RTX were ok but still lag sometime and didn’t render well on details or even polygon object rendered for short moments.

While using Rog Alley X, it was disaster. Even I could open the game and loaded successfully from the save, it barely play without crash. The situation could not be help even I set all resolution and setting to the lowest quality. The overall quality and performance was worst than MH World. I gave up to try anymore and extremely wasting time.
For me it just crashes at launch, immediately. I've never successfully been able to play it on this device. Any tips?
