Just use standart wooden one, It will bite eventually, takes like two minute to catch in Desert zone 8

Are you moving the lure correctly? Some bite when jiggling back and forth, or slowly left and right.

Try it again during Plenty in the morning or evening.

The fishing quests, everything needed to fish is locked behind stupid fetch-fishing quests. It's just a pain to fish for them quite frankly.
forgot what bait i used but had a lot of success just straight up slow reeling fish in, good luck that questline took me a while

dont spam jiggling, that fish's behaviour unique. tap once in front of it and see how it bites.

quick press S then W, repeatedly, and you'll do a slow reel in instead of the 'jump' in the water .. it took the bait (emerald) instantly! just caught one after trying for a total of ~3 hours!

Go to the Desert Oasis (Zone 8).

The npc tells you the fish spawn more during Dawn, and During Dusk, and it's best to have the condition set to "plenty". You can either use your grill, Base tent, or Pop-up tents, to rest for 300 guild points, this will allow you to switch the conditions, and time of day. Of course in order to "Rest" you need to have made it far enough in the story in order to do so.

Use Emerald Bait.

If you're using a controller, rotate the left analog stick (or move it up and down either works), slowly. The Gravid Bowfin tend to chase slow moving lures. Other fish will bite, but eventually you'll get the Gravid Bowfin. They're the more "orange-ish" looking fish. while Vivid Bowfin are green.

oasis, emerald bait, SLOWLY (pressing W+S slowly) reel in, it should bite in seconds.

No clues what the controller controls are.

Time doesn't matter, plenty is the preferred condition.
