Capture monsters is heavily overlooked
It's been on my mind and I find somewhat odd that the capturing monsters mechanic is an aftertought now in wilds

There's no tutorial or mention about capturing in the story. I remember in World when you got to watch your latest hunt laying asleep tranquilized next to you; it was so satisfying

Maybe it's because the monsters are so easy now, and only a few hits more it's all you need to finish the hunt or because you no longer have a big central hub like before to display your hunts. It's still there but lacking the focus as a real core mechanic and I can only hope it doesn't get forgotten

There is a literal capture quest during the story (Ch 4). But, I agree they don't spend a lot of time on it.

you get a quest to capture a monster, i also capture all tempered/apex (this games version of elders, u can catch all besides the ice one) it saves tons of time with high hp monsters. i feel like not too many people do it because it takes supplies? i have my towns farming sleep herbs/shock flies/parashrooms 24/7 and switch up the others depending what i want, i assume when ppl start doing this itll be much more common to capture, but i essentially capture ♥♥♥♥ 24/7 in endgame to save time on hunts, helps alot with the multi hunt stuff also.

Depends on your DPS. If you can kill them before they run away, killing might be the better option. Doesn't take to much time and you might get one or two part breaks in. If they consistently run away, capturing them when the skull pops up is better imho.

People captured mostly, because you got more rewards and safe the 60 seconds at the end. Not an issue here.

For OP: The first quest after beating the LR Story is a capture quest. Bit weird that it is so late.
